New EX1 Model?

According to the press release Sony put out on Tuesday, it looks like the full list of features of the EX1R vs the EX1 are the following:

Added 15 secs if internal memory cache recording
Added 1 Push auto iris
on grip
New Handgrip
Added 1 click slow and quick motion
New switches and Dials on back of camcorder
Added Ability to upgrade firmware via SxS
Added Zoom transition
Added Image inversion
Added 2nd shoe on handle
New Tripod Adapter Plate on camcorder
Added DVCAM recording capability
Added HDMI Connector for Monitor out
New High Res VF
LCOS VF, same as z7u and z5u, with 1.2 MP

Im curious to know if Sony is going to keep the selling price for it the same as the EX1 or a little more expensive...I'm hoping they will send some to us by the end of the month to pass on to customers

I thought they announced the MSRP at $7790? If so, that should mean the same street price, because that was the MSRP of the EX1.

Hi Barry, first I want to say its a real honor getting to talk with you directly...

I double checked and you are right, I was under the impression the EX1R had a higher MSRP, but they are indeed the same

More than likely, you will be right and the street price will be the same, and hopefully when we get our official info from Sony that will confirm it

I was actually really looking forward to hearing about a SxS Memory Store Drive...Similar to Panasonic P2 Store Drive, except with a removable standard spin disk hard drive that could be connected via eSATA to a computer for direct to edit use. Sony was suppose to include a sling shoulder holster for it so that one man camera crews could just dump the footage in the hard drive while its strapped to their chest while still recording with the camcorder on their shoulder.

Only time will tell
