New EVF from Cineroid

Yeah, I like the features it offers, but how's the picture quality?
I had the chance in the summer of 2011 to compare the Cineroid and Zacuto EVF running side-by-side at the same time on an F3. The Zacuto blew the Cineroid away and so that's the one I bought and have been happily using for the past year.
Does the new Cineroid have better picture quality now, because that trumps all the other features?

Where is the mount point on the unit? There is no obvious 1/4" 20 on the bottom or anywhere else (see photo at bottom of linked page).

It has Retina display, waveform and vector, red peaking, zebra, pixel to pixel, adjustable diopter, SDI in out, HDMI It has got to have a mounting point on it somewhere. Price is the next question but if all these features work this is a nice viewfinder.

I know I missed a few features.

It would be nice if you could power it by a d-tap as oppossed to an internal battery - they always seem a little fiddley.

Looks like the price will be around the USD $1200-$1300 mark (at least the price I found on a New Zealand dealer's site is), but that sounds about par for the course.

Hey Doug, how are things? A little off topic but what zoom lens are you using on your F3? You like me have a PDW-800 and I still try to keep my ENG work on this camera but when I can like to try my F3. I often look at my 800 footage and wonder why I even mess around with other cameras! Sparky

It has a 1/4 inch screw mount on the bottom in the picture.

Glad to see it is there now. They swapped the picture. Must have been showing a prototype earlier when I first looked at the page.

EDIT: I take that back. The one with the 1/4 20 hole is the older metal housed version (pre retina display model).

I guess the question is whether this will be any different than the alfatronics.
I did try the alfatronics recently and I must admit the picture was much better than my small HD4 EVF which in turn I think is better than the Zacuto.

I compared a buddy's Alfatron to my Cineroid SDI and I was kinda bummed out. The Alfatron only seemed a hair better on "appearance of resolution". I was planning on stepping up to Alfatron but....seemed fine to hang onto Cineroid a bit longer. Do like the closing eve piece thingy on the Alfa. But the new Cineroid has a very nice waveform set-up, plus the better screen and it's a little bit tighter in size as well. Might be saving up for this one..
