New DVX-100B USER..looking for some starter pointers

Hey everyone. I just bought my first DVX-100B camcorder. Before this I was using a little Sony Handycam to do all my shooting. I was wondering if anybody had some beginnner tips on learning the camera, and just overall problems I might run into. Thanks!

Set the user buttons for white balancing.

User 1 = Auto White Balance
User 2 = White Balance Lock

Way more useful than any other configuration on those user buttons.

Read Barrys book.
Turn ATW (auto tracking white)-----OFF -----unless you like your whites shifting between white/blue/pink in the middle of a shot.
Go out and use the camera.
Read Barrys book again---seriously.
Always use the search function before posting questions.

Another great source of info:
www.digitaljuice.com
check out the tutorials under the DJTV section, i.e. framing, white balancing, depth of field, etc.

Last but not least; Have Fun!
the more you learn, the more you will be thrilled with what you can get out of your new baby.

Read Barry's book. I waited a long time and didnt think the book was going to be that good (no offense) but was amazed at how great and informative the book was. It's worth the price, easily.

Play around w/ the camera. Use the manual until you get his book in the mail to understand some things. Just play around w/ all the settings in differnet lightings to get a good feel for the camera.
