bokser said:Those wheels look great! but man thats expensive...
I went to modells and bought their cheapest roller blades (that were going out of style) for $10/each... bought 4 pairs
each pair of roller blades had 8 wheels... so I spent 40 bucks for 32 wheels...
my dolly uses only 8 of them, the rest are for other dollies/projects...
the vid you saw is shot with those 8 wheels... but man I'd like to see the difference by using your wheels... and it also looks like you made it to support a person from you pics... this one is only for a tripod/camera.

There's a great book called Killer DV rigs that you can build. It costs $40, but saves money in the long run. One of the rigs is a dolly.

One of the ways is it saves money is that this guy has done all the screwing up for you. In otherwords, he nose exactly what size brass nipple fits in exactly what size of pipe and has done is best to make sure all of teh itmes are pretty redily available -- I think you can make his car mount for less than $20 ( I think, as I haven't made that one yet, but it's cheap). I see you are in the Netherlands, I think the latest vesion of the book includes metric equivalents for everything.
And if you are broke, here's a poorman's light kit, might be different costs in Netherlands, but a good reference none the less.

Only don't buy worklights with stands as it recomends, buy the lights without the stands and then get pro stands which you can get for about $30 each at B&H for example./ The work light stands only go to 2 meters and the pro stands wil go 2.5 to 3 meters. They also recommend frosted shower curtain for diffusion but you can get umbrellas for $9 - $30. I got three - 1 white that you shoot throuogh for diffusion, and a silver lined one that you bounce of off, and a black lined one that you bounce off of or use to keep back spill down. Put the black one and the white one back to back wit the light in the middle and you've just made a soft box.
Sorry if you already have lights, I saw you joined this month a year ago, but had a brain fart and thought you joined this month so you night just be getting your gear together.
here's a link to a temporary site of mine with links to the light article, book and other stuff I've found useful as I've been starting out this month. Its outdated however as it talks about making a film, but we've already done that at this point
