New Demo Reel

Just finished my new demo reel.

My main focus is nature cinematography. Nothing fancy.

Before anyone rails me for the music...yes i know Norm Li uses the same music in his portfolio. And no, I don't think mine is anywhere on the same level as his, but good music is good music.

What you've got here is a series of clips that don't really give us an impression of your style or skills. After viewing your reel I know that you can rack your focus, dolly forwards and back, and you can track laterally.

What about dramatic lighting? I saw one shot without any sort of context. Keep shooting to build your repertoire, but I wouldn't try using this to get yourself a job.

same opinion. your not showing any range as a film maker but more of a photographer, like he said the rack focus and all, but very little had context to it.

focus more on that cause im sure you could upll some great stuff.
 
I agree with the two previous posts. Range and context, my friend. Show them that you are skilled in multiple areas, and show them that you can get some interesting pictures that emphasize the story! Keep working, it'll come.

I haven't had a chance to work on too many full projects, 9-5 jobs hinder that. Nature is pretty much all I have time for.

But I do appreciate you taking the time to look at it and for the constructive comments. I'll keep at it.

It's from the soundtrack to the movie OLDBOY. Great film, everyone should see it before the American remake comes out and butchers it.

As for the demo reel, i think everyone else is pretty much nailed the important aspects, even if you aren't involved in big projects, you could still fake them by shooting mock scenes that give the appearance of narrative. You certainly have an eye (and some nice equipment) you should experiement more with that.
