New Da Vinci Code doc filmed on DVX

Crazyczech shall not be calmed! I feel only stabbing knives in the dark! Looking back I missreprensentated Michael's project but still feel the same about the forced opinion of what I should feel about "the Davinci Code" one way or another. Thanks for pointing it out Envinsion. Damn you and your fact-searching gnomes. I now delve back into the nether regions. Woosh!

Michael, wow, easy on the keyboard trigger!! :) I was not having a "dig" at your document far from it, I was refering to the book, like the other poster exemplified that many people (Joe Blogs) can sometimes (without prior knowledge) get really distorted picture of a particular subject. Like they say "a little knowledge is dangerous"

Barry said it right its fiction, BUT the problem is some actually think other wise.

Sorry for the confusion.

Anhar
Thank you Anhar. Do you see that in the context the post COULD have been taken as a spoiler? "Lies" is a strong word. I understand where you are coming from but I had to respond.

The fact that people have got a really distorted picture of this subject is partly the reason for making the documentary. Like I say, Henry Lincoln is at the source of all this and he and I are attempting to put the record straight.

All the best,

Michael

wait a minute, there was just some job postings a couple months ago about a Docu on the Davinci thing, is this the same thing?
No, it wasn't. I may be crazy but I did everything myself. Even the music. I've done this before and said "Never again!". Hmmm ...

Heisest and Envision - thank you for your kind words. I'll pass your compliments on to my wife!

Michael.

Thanks guys.

michael let us know once the PAL is available.
OK

If anybody's interested in the background to this stuff have a look at www.davincicode.bz . The other video there was made way before Da Vinci Code was published and way before my DVX days but it may interest some of you.

Best, Michael

>>Yes, the voice is actually my extraordinary wife, Sharon.

She sounds very similar to the famous Dilly Barlow (of Horizon etc.), very nice and lends a lot of credibility to the production.

Michael,
The diffused look of the white tower, a filter or post?
The dark "vignetting" (sp?) were you using an adapter or some devise?
How much was shot with just the camera?
-Will

I just started the book, am only on the first chapter, so I don't have an opinion yet, great job Michael. Hope it does well for ya. Tim

Thank you to all who have responded so kindly.

Sorry Will, not to have answered your question before. The answer is that the diffuse effect in some of the trailer shots is 'White Glow' from Vegas' own pallette of effects, plus a slight soft dark mask applied to the edges - all in Vegas. I shot as straight and as cleanly as i could with the DVX in 25p squeeze- there was very little done in camera. I did use a .9 ND grad and the anamorphic adapter on a number of the landscape shots though.

Some folk have asked when the PAL version is going to be available. I think the UK distributor has got it pegged for the 27th Feb, 2006. NTSC version has been availble since October.

Looks very intriging Michael. Just curious, were you using the Bogen 503 head on that long pan in the trailer?

Good work, I'll most likely pick it up.

Double edged question that - which was crappiest? the head or the operator? I cringe whenever I see that pan 'cos of the uneven pace. Actually, the head I used is my favourite bit of kit - the Vinten Vision 3 on three stage legs. It's a great head so I can't lay the blame there! No, the culprit was the wind. Did you notice how the little fir tree is waving about? It was blowing a gale up there AND I had a french flag on the mattebox (take it off - duh!!!). Yeah well, hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Forgive the bump - but some folk asked when the PAL version was going to be available. Answer is definately 27th February, same day the Da Vinci Code plagiarism case begins ...
