New Color correction!

Thank you very much for your positive response, it truly made me happy!

I filmed the video in 25p and the slo-mo scenes were shot in 50i then i played it back 50% (0.500 in vegas). Unfortunately I had the shutter set to 1/50 so the slomo parts in the office got kinda blurry. I later shot the greenscreen shots with shutter 1/100 and it looked spectacular!

The blackening effect was made in After Effects. I painstakingly masked out every furniture in 2D, it took me almost 2 full days :P

The disco tunnel effect was made with particular an I applied some starglow over it.

The-Lyons-den: I know, haha that shot was a little "setup" as you mentioned. But I'll leave it in cause i like her whimsy reaction ;)

Thanks again everyone!

I'm usually not a big fan of music videos on here, but there was something about this one that is just incredibly entertaining.

Great shooting, great song, great effects... Very well done.

Oh, and I about shat myself when I saw the CU on those hands... Thought it was taking a huge turn...

I live in Norrkoping too!
Roman is a dear friend to me, he lives in Uppsala now. How did you hear about him? Just curious.

Hey man I heard about him from you (your post!) LOL ... but I saw that he was playing in my old stomping grounds and was surprised :)

I need to get back to Sweden, bro.

About the equipment:

I used the DVX100 ofcourse ;). On some shots I used the Century optics x0,6 wideangle adapter. As a Dolly I used a tripod dolly, the floor was fairly flat so I managed to get some smooth shots.

Lighting: 3 Red heads, one with a 800W bulb the other two 200W.

I waited through the shoot to get my hands on my recently ordered Kino-Flo Divalite200 But It didn't arrive in time. I only used it on one pickup (the guy in the bathroom)

Then I made color correction with color finesse 1.5.

Really enjoyed this!

The shooting/lighting/coloring is stunning and just oozes quality. Top stuff!

Any chance you could make the original *uncorrected* one available for comparison? Even if it is just a few grabs?

Look forward to see more......

really cool lighting and colors. great work. and i second john's comment about the brunette. if she ever gets tired of dating a successful musician, she should give a no name filmmaker a try. (specifically...me)

and a comparison to the pre-color finesse footage would be sweet.

Slightly OT, but when you started filming had you already decided which shots you wanted in slo-mo?

I'd like to try doing some slo-mo 50i stuff, but when filming I'm not 100% sure what I want slow. Just wondering what you approach is. Do you film everything in 25P, then go back and film everything in 50i so you have both formats or just do stuff in 50i that you think you would like slow?

Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.

BTW I really can't tell the difference between the 50i and the 25P footage, could you have just shot the whole thing 50i and got the same look?

zanoonga,

I absolutely love this video....it's infectious...nice editing and camera work...and a groove that won't quit...

Great stuff...

Here are some comparisons on the color correction!
BTW can I upload images directly to this forum or do I have to link them as I do now?

Yes, I shot the whole piece in 25P except the scenes I wanted to do in slomo, which I shot in 50i, 1/50. What I forgot though was to set the shutter om 1/100 which makes the slomo footage slightly smeary on a TV.

Later in editing I discovered that some scenes intended for slomo would look great in original speed, so instead of wasting good 50i footade, i edited it together and de-interlaced it with magic bullet. (it is the climax near the end with the fast cutting)

So when shooting 50i and you want it to be slomo, set the shutter on 1/100 or atleast as close as you can come or else you will get smeary footage, it's like shooting 25P with 1/25 shiutter speed. If you are unsure of which scene to do in slomo. Shoot it in 50i and Deinterlace your footage, preferrably with magic bullet or ReelSmart Fieldskit to keep your resolution intact on static parts.

Hope this helps!

Great video. I love the look and the ending was a lot of of fun. The color correction was also great. My only quibble would be the camera was a little too shaky for me at the beginning.

I think they want it on BETA or digiBETA or something like that, the producer to the song takes care of that bit.

Great piece, I love this a lot. The color looks fantastic, and the lense flares are very cool during the dancing scenes. Nice job indeed.

Thanks for this Sebastian, helps loads.

A question about using Colour Finesse. How did you work it for your project ?

I find it frustrating that the clip can not be scrubbed during the process so basically it CCs on a single frame.

I love the Secondary Controls and everything else about it though....

Which Version did you use ?
