I stumbled on to this. Those interested For the Next month or so there is a $2500.cash Rebate on the Body only purchase.

I believe the $4500.00 Rebate still goes through the End of March. (Personally think the $4500 is a better bargain since you can get the Kit with the viewfinder and body Package and put the rebate towards some Express p2 cards or an external recorder).

It's funny, I received the same email from Panasonic this morning, but I had a producer send me the exact same email almost one full week ago.

First rebates available for packages...

Here's one with the viewfinder pretty much for free:

It's only a matter of time until the body drops in pricing.

I said that on November 1st. I am not trying to stir anything up and I am really happy to see this. A few more thousand dollars lower and I can take another look at the camera.

We're in February and about 10-11 months after the Varicam LT started shipping, which is the same amount of time the C300 Mark II received its $4000 price drop.

On another note, I heard 'Better Call Saul', which is one of my favorite shows, may be switching from RED and using one of the Varicams. I don't know the exact details and haven't done the research yet, but that would be interesting if so.

The Varicam LT does 2K prores XQ now. Orange is the New Black used the same codec we have in the LT to shoot the show. It's basically an Alexa with more active pixels able to shoot @5000iso. I don't really understand why you would think that this camera is overpriced. I owned Red cameras before, the Varicam LT is way better, hands down. "Better Call Saul" just appeared in the "shot on Varicam" list on their website. The Varicams are getting some attention now. Shows are not only switching from Alexa to Panasonic, but also from Red to Panasonic.

The overpriced conversation/opinion isn't for here, haha.

Why do you think they are switching from ARRI? Save money on the overall lighting plan?
