New capture camera?

After three years my little PV-DV53 that I used to upload footage to my computer has finally died. I don't mind using the heads on my 100a to shoot, but hate to resort to using it for capture. Mini DV decks have gone up in cost rather than drop, and the new consumer cameras have all the bells and whistles, but seems tough these days to find a basic affordable camera that will show timecode when reviewing footage like my DV53 did and has a reliable deck for capture. Naturally, I don't need any of the bells and whistles on a little camera because I never shoot with it. I've been searching for days. Anyone out there still shoot to tape and uses a capture camera that could suggest one they're happy with:crybaby:?

Actually, some of them have come way down. Sony used to have one of the best, the DSR-11, at a $!700-ish street price. They now have the HDV-capable replacement, HVR-M15U, for the same-ish price. But JVC and Panasonic both have DV edit decks that are less than that... JVC's is under $1500.

There are discussions in other threads going on right now about this same topic:

Long story short, you can use just about any cheap DV camera, depending on your needs.
