New Canon EOS 1D X Mark ll

... But wouldn't the brand new 1DX MkII (priced at $6K) have to affect the current price of the 1DC (originally $12K and now $8k)? Just dreaming that the 1DC could drop to $4K...
as soon as 1D C MKII is announced ... which is probably never.

Seriously, 1D C will be phased out, so the discount depends on the available inventory. My guess on what will be the next $6,000-$8,000 pro level camera is "I don't know". Let's see what the NAB'16 brings.

I'm wondering which manufacturer will first develop a camera with 24 raw photos per second, even for something like 60 shots.

does anyone know what the official "CROP" in 4k & 1080 is?

1.3x for 4k? 1.5x for 4k?

HD obviously less of a crop. anyone know what the official crop numbers are?

thanks

I think Canon did really good on this one, its not a cinema camera, its a camera for sports and wildlife, weddings even. That 4K 60p in such a small form factor is amazing for so many things.

Ie been using pix-e's speed drive for a while now and i think its one of the most well thought device there is. Msata drives cost is low too $170 for 500gb.

im looking forward to future developments of manufacturers using m.2 pcie nvme. Definitely faster than any cards on the market right now.

WTF! limited to 12,800 in 4k video mode! so dissapointing. was ready to dump a bunch of other canon high priced cameras to get this but this...!

lame as can be.

Keep in mind, it is still design primary for still photography (sport, wildlife shooter). Video features are just extra.

sure i get that and I own or owned every 5D & 1D body canon has made with the exception of the 1DX.

i always expect canon to cut features and video quality etc... but limiting ISO? thats a new one for me.

to have what might be the best low light camera in the market but limit ISO in video?

sorry thats just weird when they are touting the video capabilities along with this launch in every demo I've seen.

scratching my head on this one.

You might be able to use the expanded ISO mode in video too.... And the 12,800 ISO should be way better than 12,800 ISO on previous models. (ISO 25600 in 1080p)

Gotta laugh when potentially usable 12,800 ISO is called "lame as can be".

Yea...I agree with what everyone is saying. Everyone "wanted" this camera to be a 1DC replacement. On some level....its being pitched like that and a 1DXI replacement. The truth is that this is NOT a cinema camera....and not intended to be used that way.

So if you want to shoot Canon....its the C series. If you want a 4K canon...its $16K....plus media....which is pretty pricey. (Did not include the XC10 because I do not consider it a viable contender in the lineup).

Honestly...best bang for the buck.....Scarlet-W. This will be a fantastic camera. Also....at least for me...it puts the 1DC back on the plate.....especially if it comes down in price or you find a nice used one.

Not sure WHY Canon has not just made a 1DCII....they would literally wipe the floor in the market. If they build a 1DC...with the XC10 codec and DPAF....they would clean house. Seems they are a bit out of touch here.

yeah how spoiled we are with a lame 12.800. i see your point but in a dark and moody wedding reception hall with a 24-105mm 4.0 i find my self having to go to 16,000 and up on my C100 and even going down to 1/40th or even 1/30th to get a decent exposure much of the time. even 25,600 i could probably live with.

i wonder if this is a deliberate crippling or a technical issue that they can't go higher than 12,800.

ultimately I'm wanting the C100 mike (or whatever it is) that has that killer DPAF but was thinking of dumping a bunch of my other canon DSLR's and freshening up my stills camera world but still a potent dual use body for video as well.
