The BMPCC Pocket 4K is backordered everywhere, is that Covid, high demand, or is there a replacement on the way?

Interesting find. Backordered in most places in EU as well, although there's a few websites that claim immediate delivery (although that might be incorrect..). This sensor (or a cut-down version) for a BMPCC4K would be instant order from me..
As they build the volume the sensor unit cost comes down and it becomes more viable to you use in lower priced cameras.
I don’t think that step is imminent.

I think you're absolutely correct, but it's also worth keeping in mind that they may be planning to "bin" sensors for use in a micro four thirds camera. (For example, if there's a pixel defect in a corner of the sensor that would render it unusable for a super-35 frame size, the sensor might still be able to be used for a smaller frame size.)
This is, of course, sheer speculation.
I'm pretty sure this is due to high demand in the current environment. It's not just the Pocket Cinema Cameras that are back-ordered everywhere, a whole bunch of Blackmagic products are hard to find at the moment, including:The BMPCC Pocket 4K is backordered everywhere, is that Covid, high demand, or is there a replacement on the way?
I'm pretty sure this is due to high demand in the current environment. It's not just the Pocket Cinema Cameras that are back-ordered everywhere, a whole bunch of Blackmagic products are hard to find at the moment, including:
- Many of their ATEM live production switchers including the lower-priced ATEM Mini models, but also many of the higher-end 4K models.
- UltraStudio line of external Thunderbolt video capture devices.
- Web Presenter USB video capture device.
- HyperDeck Studio line of video recorders and playout devices.
What all of these things have in common is that they can be used for live streaming purposes or as part of multi-input live productions.
The Pocket Cinema Cameras in particular work very well with the ATEM Mini switchers (which is a very popular choice for live streaming) since it is possible to trigger internal recording on the camera or change the camera's settings (colors, exposure, etc.) remotely through the switcher. The URSA Mini Pro models and URSA Broadcast are in limited availability from a lot of retailers as well, and these can also be used as live production cameras in conjunction with the SDI-input Blackmagic switchers.

Loving it. I find the colors absolutely amazing to work with. They're deep and there's a ton of flexibility. How are you liking it?! What are your thoughts?
Thanks a lot Samuel! Those images are gorgeous (and this is not a comment about the camera)
Beautiful images Note! Can you pretty please post video also? Thanks.
Dang, Note. Very nice! My comment is about your work AND the camera. Both very nice.
Would love to see more footage shot in less dramatic lighting conditions. Looking great so far.
Any comments about what it's been like working with the files?
Here is more footage with the Ursa Mini Pro 12K:
Some short clips from my lens/scenes test alongside some music + voice over.
It's mainly shot in 12K but with 2 or so in 8K (and one in 12K 2x anamorphic).
My experience so far has been great.
One of the first things I noticed was how dense the colors were and how flexible the files are. There's a lot of variations that you can end up in, and that's a great thing.
There were 3 frame rates used:
-24fps
-33fps
-60fps
