New big f'en bag for DVX!

No problem! The first pic in the thread shows the DVX with mic, light, & lav receiver. I didn't have the monitor/recorder on, but it does fit with it (about the same size as the light, you just have to fold it down) - I just have to unvelcro the sunshade. I'll get a shot in backpack mode this weekend.

OK guys, more pics of the bag:

Here's the DVX less lights and monitor. You can see there is quite a bit of room in it. The pics at the start of this thread show some of it attached in the bag. There is probably a good 4-5 inches in front of a "naked" DVX in this bag. The blue thing is the chargers in a removable pouch that lives in front of the lens with this arrangement. There is room for rails and a matte box if you have it rigged that way.

The backpack side of things...

There are "feet" on one end of the bag for use in backpack mode.

Note there are both a chest strap as well as a belt.

The backpack straps don't tuck up very neatly, here is the best I could do... and a suggestion that could allow for them all to be stowed!

I should add that you CAN detach the shoulder strap from the lower adjustment fitting IF you cut the sewn end off to allow it to pass through the "buckle" (or whatever the adjuster thingy is called), but I don't want to put a pair of scissors to a new bag! It would be awkward in the field, and a quick release fitting at the lower location would be an ideal solution.

In the lower pic it should be noted that the backpack belt is detachable and stuffed into yet another lower pocket of the bag. (So it isn't visible in that lower pic but is there and can be pulled out when needed). There is also a Velcro strap on the bottom that I assume is to be used to lash up the backpack straps (shown being used for that) so they are more compact. Didn't see it when I first started messing with it until today.

That's pretty cool. I don't like doctor bags, but I like the size of this one. I have a Sachtler Camporter Large that is about this size, but not a backpack...which is important if you need a backpack and free shoulders. Good-looking stuff, I'm glad it's working out for you.

I have several traditional bags that I use. But have a small backpack that I use for a smaller camera and am starting to like the concept of having the backpack option. The bag looks great. And it looks massive when it is on someone's back. Have been using one of my old bags, but it is tight. Been planning on upgrading. This looks like a nice option.

Hey Michael et al,

I just bought a Tenba Cineluxe 24-inch shoulder bag...basically what you (Michael) have without the backpack harness...spent some time hemming and hawing about getting the backpack or non-backpack version, but decided against it. Frankly, I could have gone either way, but bottom line: I really like what Tenba's doing these days. The bag is nicely made and has sensible features, and it's nice to be able to keep the camera rigged to go when transporting in town.

So thanks everyone for the discussion here.

I bought the backpack cinelux 24, same as Michael's. When I got it, I was unsure whether I liked it and almost sent it back. It is more difficult to lay flat. But after some though, I stuck with the backpack concept because I can carry the camera and equipment hands free. But I think the shoulder bag is a good choice as well, depending on your needs. I will use it as a backpack but not as often as a regular bag. Almost like I need to buy the shoulder bad too.

I bought one after seeing this post a while back. It appears that you have sold some of these bags. LOL Temba should give you a commission. It is well constructed. A shoulder bag would fill 90% of my needs, but I do go off road, so I actually need the backpack. I should post some photos or a video.

I have other bags and cases and can get a broken-down camera into one...but not a fully rigged one...

I liked Michael's suggestion to Tenba for some sort of integrated zip-rollup cover so you can "hide" the backpack straps when you don't need them. That would probably have pushed me towards a backpack.

I've really only used it as a backpack once, packing gear up a trail. 95% of the time it's a "bag". I fussed over the backpack straps not allowing it to stay flat BUT there is a silver lining.... they act as more "bottom padding" if the bag is being "handled" (tossed into a van by an idiot or something) AND the bottom is stood off the "ground" by an inch or two... meaning the water level that you don't notice rising because the automatic sprinkles went off and it's draining where you put the bag, affords it that much more protection... :Drogar-KnockedOut(D ummm, not that THATS happened.....

I also will only use the bag as a backpack about 5% of the time. One nice thing is it keeps your hands free, even when not on a trail. To keep the pack laying flat, I find it easier to open the buckle on the hip belt, and push the two ends out from under the pack. They hang out on both sides, but the pack lays flat.

This is a good bag, but I only used it once. I go backpacking and camping, but the DVX 200 is a bit heavy to carry and the Temba bag will not hold camping gear. So I will be selling it. Like I said used it once. Before posting it for sale, wondering if Micheal or any of the DVX 200 people are interested in it. Good price and free shipping

The term originated in Basketball. Essentially not following set plays or defense. Lots of fast-breaks and goal attempts.
