New Batman cast...

If people are freaking out about Affleck as Batman, I don't see why they're so gung-ho for Cranston as Lex. Just 'coz he had a shaved head in Breaking Bad? That casting, I just don't see. I certainly can't see where it's better than Affleck as Wayne.

But on that note, I'm not sure anything could be as badly miscast as Superman Returns.

The only good acting I've seen Aflec do was in HollywoodLand, but in that movie it was mostly facial acting he did. But hey, he can't be as bad as Clooney was right? Right?, I think Nolan had a hand in this choice, not big but I'm sure Nolan would take his name of the film if he thought Aflec couldn't at least do a believable job.

Nolan's name is probably about all that's involved with this picture as far as he goes. Love Nolan, but he phoned it in with TDKR, and probably only helped with developing MOS as a favor to Goyer (his name alone added the weight the film needed to justify that absurd budget). Looking forward to Interstellar, where he'll hopefully get back to making movies he wants to make.

Not because he's bald in Breaking Bad because he's AWESOME in Breaking Bad. I think he's a great choice. He can be truly menacing. He can be funny when need be. Just put him in Heisenberg mode and crank it to 11 and he'll be great. Some of his acting in Breaking Bad is some of the best work I've seen any actor do anywhere. That's why people are excited. A great actor in an iconic role. Ben Affleck is not that.

My only concern is, knowing Snyder, he'll probably put Lex in a robot suit so he can fight Superman at the end or some dumb crap. Also, we will have had three new Superman's that haven't introduced a new villain. Lex is pretty played out at this point.

Yeah, but someone being a great actor doesn't make him right for a specific role. Kevin Spacey is a great actor. He was not right for that role, even considering how Singer wanted to play it (goofier).

plenty of people were unhappy with nolans batman, Bale, as well as the joker portrayal, Ledger, not that it wasn't a great performance or character he created it just wasn't the joker.

Who knows they might actually get batman's character right in this movie, finally, and have him look and act nothing like he should. Either way I leave it up to them as at this point we are so far from the original characters I have very little left invested in these versions of my favorite comic book characters.

Someone mentioned why they would abandon all the fans of the nolan movies, well they abandoned decades of comic fans to create nolans realistic batman.... effectively a rich guy with a military contract and lots of top secret military gear running around beating the crap out of people, not quite batman... and that voice...

Don't get me wrong they were great movies... the first two, just not good batman movies... which there have been no live action movies that accurately translate the comics to the screen.

though I guess that is unfortunately the reality of being a fan of something before it is adapted to another medium very rarely are you happy let alone blown away.

So hire afleck, heck anyone you want just make it an enjoyable ride and please try to make it about batman being a super intelligent detective not just some rich dude with some badass martial arts training, his intelligence made the character as well as his deduction skills, pretty much mix tony stark, Sherlock Holmes, and nolans batman and you get batman from the comics. And stop showing wayne for half the bloody movie the character is called batman not bruce wayne, if I want to see a movie about bruce wayne I will go watch a movie called bruce wayne.... hehe this is one of the places I just can't keep my bias in check it's just such popular well put together movies with a fundamentally flawed (from my perspective) main character drives me nuts now I have to wait another however many years until Nolans batman is forgotten and someone else takes a stab at it.

oh and the batman superman team ups were some of my favorite issues, world's fineest, I just love the juxtoposition of the two characters opposite each other, the superman boy scout, with unlimited power but refuses to cross the line to do the right thing, and the super hero who is still only human who tries his best to keep order and protect society from it's evils by any means possible and is willing to interrogate torture and break the rules to achieve his goals for the greater good, the two balance each other out perfectly if they are both written the way they were in the comics, if not the formula can fall flat on it's face especially if it is being presented to a new audience.

look forward to this new incarnation of batman and the build up to the justice league.

I don't see why he isn't. I thought Spacey could have been fine in the role too, had it been written better. But maybe you have a different idea of what Lex should be than I do.

Cranston was an awful villain in that Total Recall reboot. But, then, it was almost a big a mess as Daredevil.

Absolutely. Look at all the readers (and authors) disappointed in book adaptations to movies- possibly even a greater leap between media than that of comic to movie.

Definitely gives Cranston the edge, that's for sure.

As for Ben, I'll wait and see before I ***** too much. He wouldn't be my first choice, that's for sure.

The new TOTAL RECALL was just terrible in every way - Cranston was the least of the films problems, and my biggest problem with him was the ridiculous wig they made him wear.

Oh, I agree with you it was terrible in every way. I only saw it because they were screening it at the studio I work at. But I do remember Cranston's performance being particularly bad. Perhaps even one of the worst things about it.

Anyways, he doesn't really resemble Luthor to me in any way other than having no hair in this particular point in his career. That feels like even more of a stretch than Affleck as Batman.

Ben Affleck's reaction when he heard they were making the next Batman/Superman movie in Detroit--

Ha ha, that one's awesome Terry.

For the record I don't think Affleck will be terrible as Batman but don't think he'll be very good/great.
