new affordable display loupe

Probably not a glass lens. Build quality looks pretty fragile, but hey what do you expect at that price?

No, it is a glass condenser lens, double coated as they state. This thing really doesn't seem to be poorly manufactured to me.
And you can adjust from -1 to +2.5 diopters.

I've waited for enjoyyourcamera.com to have the LCDVF in stock again but now I might be the guinea pig and give it a try, it's almost 1/3 of the price.

i made a loupe for under a dollar that works just as well as any other one ive seen on the market yet.

Come on guys, stop throwing your money out the window and just use a little ingenuity.

I'd like to make a loupe for under a dollar as well but I'm just not talented enough for that stuff. Did you post your loupe in the DIY section?

i didnt post mine yet, i need to add a lens first, but il likely just pick one up from the dollar store.

Essentially its mostly just a plastic cup with a hole cut out in the end and spray painted matte black to minimize reflection. Fits on my shoulder rig perfectly.

Maybe its just that i worked in a robotics lab for several years, but i see some of the prices for some of these things that are essentially just some metal sticks connected together and i just am amazed that people will actually pay it. These are not expensive materials. They arent made of titanium or gold. These companies must be making like 4,000% profit lol.

How long have you been shooting?

Not long, but I worked on various robotics parts machining, desiginng and creating various parts (parts much more complicated than a simple shoulder rig or dolly) for several years, including ROBONAUT and various rover prototypes.

So i guess if your saying i'm missing something due to inexperience, you could be right. But as far as i can tell a shoulder rig isnt anything special.

Now if you have the money, go ahead and dont waste your time comming up with a cheaper solution, BUT, if you dont have an infinite amount of money i still say its better to bargain shop/ DIY.
