C100: New 70-300 nano usm face tracking?

Has anyone read anywhere about face tracking with the new 70-300 nano usm?

I know it works with zoom stm lenses on the C100 mkii, but I heard the new nano 18-135 has this feature?

I don't believe I've ever read that AF Face Tracking capability was found on this or any other USM lens. My understanding is it's only implemented on STM-equipped lens. I could be wrong and judging from the reviews of these new nano lens, it's a little confusing what the big difference is in focus motors. First, Canon said STM was designed for the video bunch (you know, quicker acting to accommodate 8-10 frames/sec. recording?) Now this...

I just tried the 70-300mm USM on my C100 II and no face tracking (that I can tell). Face Priority option greyed out. Not sure if there are multiple versions of this lens? I bought mine last year.

Works well (really well!), of course, on latest 18-135mm STM.

^Well, if you purchased last year it's obviously not the Nano USM version. It is a little confusing since Canon has not explicitly said Nano USM is compatible with Face Tracking. I find it strange to think Canon would force their customers to decide between that hybrid motor technology and Face Tracking as a general thought. I have similar thought about the new 18-135: motorized zoom or Face Tracking (STM-only version)??

The strange thing is the nano usm 18-135mm works with face tracking on the C100 mkii. So in theory the new 70-300 should...

^You have first-hand conformation of this? I have not seen where this is printed. Considering buying the newer 18-135...

It works! I own both, the 18-135 and 70-300 nanos and both works with face detection on my C100ii. Strangely, Canon didn't updated this info in their page!

If you haven't already, you might consider the 55-250 stm. That lens is dirt cheap and I actually think it's a somewhat better range and size than a 70-300 for most uses.

Nano USM is just both of USM and STM worlds, fast for photos and silent and smooth for videos, STM is not good for photos, Nano USM is made to be good for photo and video autofocus...
