New 5600mah DVXuser Batteries now shipping.

Jarred,

Are the "older" batteries still available? I'd like to mix an order of the 5600's, and some lesser power batts.

Thanks,

bikefilms

Hi Jarred,

I ordered two batteries yesterday, but I leave for a trip next friday! Any way you can expedite my order? I know it's asking a lot, especially since others have ordered before me, but I'll be in the middle of nowhere on this shoot, and I need those batteries! Thanks,

Chris Cavallari

yeah i was just gonna send him a HVX instead of a cookie, but i guess he cant wait that long... so cookies it is.

I was wondering what the correct battery ettiquette is for these puppies and have a few questions.

Hey there.
Batteries would probably be sent about 40% charged (that would be fairly standard, and ideal).
Self discharge on Li-Ion batteries is very small, and long-term storage should be at about 30% to 40% charged, in a cool place. Some store li-ion and li-poly batteries in the fridge. They should be topped up to about 40% if they fall below about 15% to 20%. Again, that's only for long term storage.
The good thing about Li-Ion batteries is that they are "memory-free", meaning you can charge them at pretty much any time, and drain them pretty much to any level.
Also, keep in mind, that with any brand new Li-Ion battery, you won't achieve FULL capacity until after having charged and drained them a few times; i.e. they will appear to get better for the first few uses, after which time they will slowly diminish in capacity.

Hi-
Still haven't seen the batteries, can you tell if they've been sent yet? I'm Dennis Stevens, in Somerville, MA. If you've sent them, can you get me a tracking number?

thanks

I ditto everyone who's asked about the status of their batteries. I'm excited, as are they and since there's no other way to find out anything... could I check my order status? Paypal-ed on the 18th of August, $171, Martin R. Coffin.

Maybe it would take more work than it's worth... I don't know if you're selling 10 or 10,000 of these things... but since this is a business transaction involving a decent little chunk of change, isn't there a way someone could respond to those who place an order with some sort of confirmation e-mail and/or a tracking number when they ship? That'd be groovy.

sorry everyone, I was in Chicago for the last week hense my lack of being able to help. just send me a PM and i will shoot you off your tracking numbers.

Hi Jarred,
I got a chance to finally use my new batteries today, only to discover that they're a bit wide to fit my 100A comfortably without forcing them into the chamber. Maybe an early batch? The Pana ones fits fine.
Anyway,please advise.

Thanks,
Ken

hey ken, the initial fit for the batteries is tight, but after 2 or 3 inserts it fits to your camera, we made them this was because they are so heavy, the manufacture recomended making them more fitting to put less strain on the camera. Dont worry about hurting your baby.. the outer layer of the battery is very soft.

Hmm! Makes sense...less strain on the battery connector by having the walls of the compartment support more of the battery's weight.
Good idea.
Thanks...paranoia over.
Ken

Thanks for this post, kplo! Although I've been using my dvx battery alot, I always felt a slight tinge of guilt when giving that little extra squeeze.
