I don't know whether this is worth making into a sticky?
(There's probably more than enough here already)!

Panasonic (in Europe at least) are now offering a 2 year warranty deal with 5 day repair or a free Loan Unit!

The best part is, it applies to ALL HVXs - even those registered before the deal was announced can be covered from the date of purchase.

Register your HVX on this link and your HVX is covered!

And don't worry if you don't have the original box to send the unit back, you can request one when you log the fault!

Is there a charge or is it free?
Completely free - unless the HVX is out of warranty (2yr I imagine) or the repairs aren't covered by warranty.
(This is how I understand the T&C - users should check for themselves)

I reported mine as faulty this afternoon (4:30). I'll report back with a record of how the transaction goes. I also requested a box as I don't have one. The usual arrangement here is DHL bring the empty box one day, and collect it with the camera inside, the next. I'm hoping to catch the driver and send mine the same day.

The only complication is, I reported three faults (so it may take more than 5 days).

1) There's a serious colour cast - redd'ish/magenta on the left and cyan'ish/green on the right of the image. (And it's not the lighting - I've experimented by turning the camera upside down and shooting the exact same scene).

2) There's a lot of noise (P2 recording) when using the internal mic.

3) If I tilt the camera back (lens upward) the (manual) iris setting changes drastically (typically, from f1.7 to f4.8).

I discovered the last problem, when I inverted the camera to double-check the first fault - upside down, it was suddenly over-exposing by about a stop! Then I discovered it varied if the camera's pointed upwards!

According to Panasonic's terms, if there are several faults, the 5 day turnaround doesn't apply as the camera may have to go to several departments to be repaired.

hi andy,

hope you get your HVX sorted. Where exactly do i find my service pack number and premium pack code? Comes in an envelope, a card? Didnt get any of this when i received my HVX a week ago from the UK.

Hi Stephen,
I got mine from the dealer today when I took the HVX back for repair.
Hopefully the dealer you bought yours from will help you out.

I've every confidence Panasonic will sort the camera out - and I'm really impressed with this new warranty.

My dealer assures me that with the receipt i'm entitled to a 2 year warranty covered by panasonic UK already. So i guess its safe either way. good luck!

Goodbye HVX200 (sob, sob).

Goodbye HVX200 (sob, sob).

Well, as Panasonic promised, the DHL guy delivered the shipping box today - and he hung around for a few minutes while I packed the HVX into it and sealed it up securely. Hopefully, this saves me a day because Panasonic say to call DHL when the camera's packed and they'll collect the next day.

It also helps the driver - because he's the guy who would have had to collect tomorrow!

The box was a similar outer to the one the camera came in originally, but it had a neat arrangement, where you just press the camera into place in a lower section, then press an upper section down onto it, and the camera's held tightly in place.

Stage one completed with no hassle. Now I have to sit tight and see how long it takes to get the camera to Germany for repair, and back home again!

(Edit: Spelling corrected).
