Nah it's all good man everyone's got an opinion and I'm glad to hear yours. Each genre of music has a "typical" video style but this ones a little more plot driven and told differently even if it has a popular themes.

I thought it was a good video and my only real gripe is perhaps an overuse of effects. It starts looking like a bad nineties music video when you start going crazy in after affects IMO. The framing and story you told in the film was good and better then the average hip hop video though. It's a video to be proud of. Good song too.

I think visual effects need to be used subtly and minimally to enhance the footage not totally disguise it. Think of Terminator 2. Such a great use of special effects but they are used to enhance the story and are used very cleverly. Then think of Transformers...

Instead of the strong "scratched film" look in some of the shots I would have gone with just adding a film grain and desaturating the colour.
Check this awesome video out for what I mean: http://vimeo.com/28276128

I thought the shots of the projection that start "rolling" looked a bit weird. I would have just added a "flicker" mask.

SO yes I think the direction and shooting of this video is excellent but that the post production lets it down a little. Some shots do look great I have to admit though with the effects you've added...

I think you have a great concept going, but some of the effects should be less subtle. I think it's just like seasoning food, sometimes you keep adding that extra flavor to the point where you can spoil it. In my honest opinion I think if you were to remove some of the effects and just focus on good lighting and cinematography you could have a really nice project.

Overall I think it's cool, but I think you used to many Visual Fx.

Thanks a bunch Searcher! I value the opinions on this forum and I completely understand what your saying with the Mike Bay Tformers vs Camerons Terminator comparison of FX, I appreciate the time you took to post, gracias!
