Neo Scene or FCP Log & Transfer

I have a dilemma. I apparently can't update my version of FCP to 6.05, so I can't import the AVCHD files via log & transfer.

I downloaded a trial version of Neo Scene to trasncode AVCHD files.

Should I stick with Neo Scene to transcode and continue using the older verison of FCP 6? Or, purchase either FCP 6.05 / FCP 7 to be able to transcode the AVCHD files within FCP?

Any other reason that using my current version with Neo Scene would be a disadvantage?

If you bought FCS2 you should be able to update to 6.0.5 via software update. Why cant you update?

I bought the computer off somone with FCP2 loaded on it. When I go to download the updates, it's says they have already been downloaded.

There's a little free app called "Final Cut Pro Rescue" with that program you could delete old preferences and give FCP a fresh new start... then try doing the update!

If that doesn't help, then you could try deleting the update "Receipt" on the "Receipts" folder
Here's the path "Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/FinalCutPro6.0.5Update.pkg" for the "Macintosh HD" part that is your main hard drive (maybe you have a different name)... After you delete the receipt (you can back it u if you want) try updating your system again using "Software Update"

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the response.

Not exactly sure how I did it, but was able to upgrade to 6.06. Think it had something to do with actually registering the product!

With that issue solved, is there any reason to consider Neo Scene? Or will FCP tracscode just as good?

Log and Transfer, works great at transcoding on FCP... do some testing and find out what works best for you. I don't know why you would want to use Neo Scene if FCP works good!
ProRes is nice but you may want to use AIC if you're more concern about file size (it's your choice)
