Need to create a News intro

I've got a project I'm working on, and I'd like to make a little news intro for a part of it. Have any of you guys ever made one? Have any tips or anything that might get me in the right direction? I've watched a couple of intros on YT just to get in that mentality, but nothing yet. I honestly don't want to spend a ton of time on this, either. Some, just not a ton. Know of any tutorials to get me started on the right path?

John Dickinson's site has a fair amount of tutorials for creating promos, intros, etc. Here's one in particular, not necessarily news, but you can probably get something out of it to get you started. Most news stations seem to have 3d logos and have some kind of chrome or lighting effect on the logo. If you don't have c4d you can look into invogorator pro:

Yikes. Yeah, since I'm getting $600 for the whole project, I'll just bypass that. It's not a huge deal, but I didn't know if there was anything already out there. I need to learn some 3d stuff, though.
