Need Super Urgent help! Import Problem

Hi all. When recording interlaced (or progressive i believe) i have a scary import issue. When i review the imported footage I get an interlace issue. There is a black line (when played in VLC) that is a few pixels from the top of the image, when played with windows media it flickers up and down a few pixels.

Could this be a dirty heads issue? If so I should get a head cleaning tape.

Regards
Isaac

Isaac... I don't think that you have dirty heads. If you did, given the way the HDV format works, you'd probably take out a bunch of frames. In DV mode, it might take out only one.

I was poking around on Vimeo last night and saw a video that exhibited symptoms very similar to what you describe although the author couldn't identify the cause.

You might want to check to see if your players or your monitor has any sharpening applied. I've found that that can cause shimmering around edges even in progressive videos. It may not be your issue, but it's one thing you can check.

That said, you should have a head cleaning tape but I don't believe it will solve your problem.
