Need some advice....

"Be like David Caruso in Jade"

And not to disagree with the only girl who commented, but you are treading into "Oh, I don't think of you that way territory. Can't we just be friends?" I think asking after there is some hint of interest is better than waiting until it may become uncomfortable. After weeks of hanging out she may see you as a good person to talk to and not much more. Plus, you will have to be on edge for those weeks. Whereas on a date you get past this uber cautious period in a more timely fashion without worrying when the right time to ask her out is or is she even really interested in me in that way.

So, do you work in partnership with Movie Master? You chop 'em down, and he embalms or cremates 'em? You know, a good old fashioned "you plug 'em, he plants 'em" partnership?

Exactly.

If you ask, you have a 50/50 chance she'll say "yes" (well, sort of, I mean there are only two answers, right, and one of those answers is yes).

Vs. if you don't ask her, in which case the result is the same as getting a "no".

So: if you ask, it's 50% "no".
If you don't ask, it's 100% "no".

So the odds are much more in your favor if you just ask!

True, although you'll also have to be mentally ready for the "Uh, I would go, but it seems like I'm going to be really busy for the next week/month." If she's really as nice as you say then this is the line she'll use if she's not interested. Sure, there's a chance she might actually be busy but in my experience it's just not gonna happen.

no... haven't had the chance really... we're always around other people and if she rejects me i don't want other people around.

I think Charlies advice was great but you're a guy so you'll probably take that advice and stick it like a filter on your male mattebox of life and get it wrong somehow anyway. The beauty of it all is that you'll ask or not, get it right or wrong and proceed to muddle through the mystery that's been with us forever. Like Barry said, it's 50/50. You pays your money, you takes your chances but most importantly you learn from your mistakes. Fall down enough times as a toddler you learn to walk, same thing with beautiful girls. You might get this one, you might not, but in the end, if you pay attention to the game and learn from your mistakes, you'll find that girl in the end.

Yeah, I feel your pain buddy. Feel like sharing? :D

For what it's worth here a few of my (late) thoughts on the matter... maybe Charlie or another one of our female DVXusers can chime in and let you know if it's good or bad? A lot of what I 'know' comes from talking with my female friends so I've always deluded myself into thinking it has some meaning. :D

1) Do not compliment her. I know, I know. I'm not suggesting that you be a jerk but compliments from random guys don't mean anything whatsoever. Nada, zip, nothing. In fact it comes off as being manipulative. Besides, if she's as beautiful as you're saying she probably has guys telling her she's beautiful 30+ times a day - no joke. It's something I've talked with my female friends about quite a bit. They get hit on more than you can imagine - even the ones who aren't smoking hot. In fact, a lot of them worry about getting hit on (or so they tell me).

2) If she isn't feeling attracted to you from the beginning she isn't going to feel attracted to you a month from now. She might grow to like you as a friend but attraction is one of those things that is either there or it's not. No amount of sucking up or being friendly is going to suddenly make her want you 'in that way'. Of course if you don't talk to her she won't feel anything at all (unless you flat out look creepy in which case she will run and fast - which I suppose the reaper could) so that has to be the first step.

Horse had some great advice:

be slightly cocky, but mainly funny and don't be needy and you'll be fine. Think of it as an acting gig. Make her want to chase you.

This seems to really be true! I'm not sure I'd call it cocky but it's apt enough. I associate it more with playing around and having a good time wheras cocky in my mind is associated more with being an ass. Have fun man, tease her. Push her. Make fun of her. I'm talking in a playful way of course.

As for a date... I don't like the idea of dates. Too formal man and it puts too much pressure on both of you. Ask her to hang out with you sometime. Go to the mall or something where you can have fun. Movies and dinner are out. Movies don't work - no talking. Dinner - as TC put it - too conventional.

This is good advice from Ramjet:

I got my girl when I stopped trying to find a girl.

Works like a charm!

For what it's worth! And yeah, coffee does suck! I'm for hot choclate all the way!

OK. Enough of this.

Does she play with her hair when she talks to you? Does she touch you when he talks to you (on the arm, you nasty boy)?

If Yes to either, go for it. If Yes to both, go for it now.

As to compliments...like he said, don't. Except: figure out what she likes least about herself and compliment that.

she doesn't touch me... we're usually sitting a row apart in class, and after class she has a bunch of books she's carrying (no i haven't offered to carry her books). she usually laughs at my jokes and listens when i'm talking. i'm just fed up with this too, and i'm going to do this on thursday.

Well, I took a while to prepare today. Made sure I looked "presentable"... I was really nervous. My mouth was dry the whole ride to school. All the scenarios were going through my head. Both sides of the coin... What happened you ask?

She didn't show up! That means I only have 2 more class times to do this. Next Thursday, and the day of the final...

well dont ask her right after the final, she may have 10 other guys that didnt have the scrot to ask her all semester.... between the two I'd say ask her the class before the final maybe she wants to "chilll" after the final....
the best thing to do would be to randomly run into her sometime in the next 3 months, and just off the top of your head ask her....

Great thread.

I'm dying to hear what happens.

Charli's advice sounds good to me, but in my gut I can't help thinking that Trent from "Swingers" might have the best advice of all. :)

Good luck,

Chris

WHAT THE HELL!!!!! this forum was reading like a love novel and then it stops... no friggin ending?????

Im not into love stories but I want to know what happened??????

Did she say yes or say no?????
