Hey!

I have a xh-a1 and Ive put it off sale now and I will keep it.

Problem I notice now is it spits out my cassettes ;/
I cant get Panasonic DV tapes to work ,but a canon premium tape I can get to work, but only if I start up on "manual" mode (the spin wheel you know) and press record, then it records for 1 sec and I can use it as it should be, if i do not record instantly on startup, it rewinds it abit and then spits it out.

any suggestions?

Hello Cherrytime,
The tape drive should not be acting this way. I was going to suggest you run a tape cleaner through the drive a couple of times and then try the Panasonic tapes, but after you said the Canon tape will only work in the manual mode. It sounds like your camera may have to make a trip to the repair. Anyway good luck.

It do is kind of strange, I havent found a similar problem really. But as it is working right now (even in a weird kind of way) I would not like to run the tapecleaner - because I fear I might have ran it thinking it was a normal tape and that was what caused the problems. Is that a possbility?

Im just gonna go on as things are right now, it's working but in a strange kind of way and also Iam recording to a external harddrive.

thx for reply

Hello Cherrytime,
I don't think using a tape cleaner would cause a problem with your tape drive. If it was me I wouldn't think twice about trying the tape cleaner.
