Need help with 108024p problem!

I don't understand how this is possible, but I was shooting in 108024p setting on the camera, which i know should be 108024pa, but it was too late to change the settings. i capture the first 5 rolls with log and transfer (i've been storing the cards on an external) which is captured using the 1080p30 compressor and then removing pulldown frames changing the footage from 29.97 to 23.98. Worked great which made me question, why must i shoot in 108024pa?

Now a few days later, and an update from final cut studio 6.01 to 6.02, i log and transfer the other 15 rolls. This is where it goes down hill. The compressor settings changed from 1080p30 to 1080i60 with the frame rate of 29.97. I tried to remove the pulldown frames and i get an error telling me there are no pulldown frames to remove.

So now i'm stuck with 1/4 of my footage in 23.98, and the rest 29.97. NOW THIS MAKES NO SENSE! I go to recapture the first 5 rolls thinking i changed my camera settings, and they get captured with the 1080i60 compressor?! No pulldown frames to remove!

Did something completely change from fcp 6.01 - 6.02? I know i'm probably not being very clear, but what can I do? Do i change my camera settings for the rest of the production to 108024pa and convert the first 20 rolls using compressor and deal with choppy footage? Why hvx200, why.... Is there a way to force log and transfer settings to ingest footage with a certain compression? please help. thanks.

I don't know what to tell you except to go back to 6.0.1.

I wish there was something else to diagnose, but your problem is so narrow.

We never never never upgrade mid project. And before we do, we always clone our boot drive. I know that doesn't matter now, but it may in the future.

So you need to go back to 6.0.1 and see if that fixes it.

I thought i had to upgrade to match the versions between my mb pro and my mac pro, but now, never, never again. i used program FCS Uninstall and went back to Final Cut 6.0. Now when I log and transfer, it uses 1080p30 and now finally allows me to remove pulldown frames, thus leaving me with 23.98. David, thank you for your time.

I do feel that this is useful information for others. The jump from 6.0 to 6.02 means a change in compressor settings. So if you accidently shoot in 108024p instead of 108024pA, you're fine if you resort back to final cut 6.0

Now, I don't want to continue shooting in 108024p, so I'm going to try and export the footage i have now in some odd setting so I can match my new camera settings of 108024pA, right?

To the rest of dvxuser, where's the love? Seriously though?
