C100: Need color/camera matching advise: C100mk2 to DVX200

Hi all;

Normally I lurk over on the DVX200 board, and I posted up a similar question over there. The DVX I'm shooting with very closely matches the GH4 colors, so I'll use that as a reference point. I'm going to be shooting with a new to me C100MK2 alongside the DVX, and am hoping to get some advise on getting the coloring of the two to match. Now the nature of this project won't allow me to do any color grading in post; everything has to be baked in and delivered that way. So I am wondering if anyone has any advise or experience in getting the C100MK2's baked in profiles (or tweaking them slightly) to more closely match the GH4 color palette?

From what I have experienced, good luck. Very, very different looking cameras. But perhaps someone else has invested the time and effort to try to match them? This won't work for you but I wonder how far C-Log is from V-Log Lite?

Thanks Puredrifting! Yeah... they are pretty different. I guess I was hoping maybe someone has created a custom picture profile to get one (or the other) into the ballpark...

As puredrifting said, good luck. When cameras are so different it's almost impossible, especially if you're not going into post. I've done shoots with two different cameras and we used "matching files" from AbelCine that were created to try to match different cameras and they were still fairly far off.

The color science between the two is totally different. Why not just rent another DVX200 or another C100 MKII? These cameras are cheap to rent. I rent extra C100s all of the time, much easier than trying to fit a square peg through a round hole.

Uuugghhh... yeah. This is turning into a real PITA. Good idea... I think renting a duplicate of one or the other will make life easier!

We ended up using 2 c100mkii's. One supplied by a cohort and one rented. Came out well. No matching issues. First time I had used the C100mkii, and I admit I am very, very impressed. So much so that I ordered one for myself!
