Need camera suggestions to go with 7D for longer form interviews.

Hello- I'm doing interviews in-my recording studio with drummers and producers, and have thus far been shooting with 2-3 7d/5d's , and doing off camera sound on my Zoomh4n or straight to Pro tools.

I'm finding the limited file size and overheating to be issues from time to time, having to stop the flow of an interview- So, I'd like to move the 7D's to B/C cams for nicer artistic shots, and rely on one camera as a lock down that will always be rolling as an establishing shot for the interviews. I'd also use that camera for the less formal quick run n gun stuff.

I need something that would be portable, do well in lowlight, and have professional audio. I'd love to have something that would do the nice DOF that the dslr's do, but I'd sacrifice that for a camera that shoots a nice image that will play nice with the 7D footage ( converted to pro res)

Is there something on the horizon, under 5k that would fit the bill?

Dslr is my first foray in to video, so I'm really not sure what I should be looking for.
I'm editing in FCP.
heres a link to the very first one I shot about a year ago. I've gotten substantially better since then, but this gives you an idea. This was shot with 2 7d's, and I'd like to go to three cam, and replace the wide locked down shot with the new camera.
thanks!

This is a great question. I'd like to look into a true video camera too to use in addition to a 7d. I'd like to see what people would recommend.

had something like this come up recently. I ended up using two t2i's at different angles for the interview, both set to restart when the file limit of 12min is reached, and started at different invertals. This way, when the first camera shuts off, the second still has a couple of minutes to go, by the time that one needs to stop, the first one will have restarted.

Sync up both cameras with audio recorded seperately, and you have a pretty decent 2-camera shoot. You are just forced to switch cameras at certain points.

Yes, having a standard camera without limits would be easier, but sometimes its not an option.

with qscale 1 in magic lantern for 550D you can record over hour of footage

Doesn't answer the OP's question, but I actually didn't know that (and I'm a huge ML fan)! But what does the quality look like?? :/

If you want something that looks like a DSLR, the only real option that I've heard anything about that is out right now is the AF100.
