Need an AF100 Battery

I need an additional battery for my AF100. I've searched around but can't find one that matches the serial numbers on my current Panasonic factory battery. Does anyone know where I can locate a new Panasonic factory battery?

Where did you buy the AF100 from?

THey should be able to supply Pansonic ones but you could take a look at the equivalent Swit battery

Erik,

Where did you read that? On Abel Cine Tech's site? I saw the same information a long time ago, but a local Abel rep told me it was incorrect.

A production company I work with has a few of the IDX batteries, & have been juicing them on the Panasonic charger, as well as the IDX duel, so they seem compatible. Perhaps there's a gremlin they haven't noted yet.

If your still interested consider emailing IDX. There's a link at the bottom of this page.

It’s in the description as a note on AbleCine site.

If interested definitely call them to make sure you don’t need a special charger. It is surprising if the battery did. Doesn’t make sense but thats what it says.

I bought my AF100 as a kit from B&H. It was supposed to come with a second Panasonic battery, but they were out of stock so they gave me an ssl-vbg50 an a $50 discount for their price difference. The battery charges just fine on the Panasonic charger that came with the AF100.

I have 2 of the IDX batteries and they both charge without problems in the Panasonic charger and they have proven to be very reliable. Also, they last long and I like the LED's which tell you how much charge is left without having to turn on the camera.

The HMC150, AC130/160, and AF100 all use the same batteries.

The HPX250 uses different batteries.

what has more capacity original pany battery or idx or swit S-8BG6? as i understood the pany has a much larger one, but not sure for how much, if its twice as big as competitors then is there a point to buy a non original one?

Battery capacity is measured in A/Hrs. Amps over Hours

The capacity of the battery to deliver power for x time.

The size of the battery is not a good indicator of capacity.

The Swit has a 7.2V pole DC output socket. That’s why I ordered it and it’s $99 from Amazon so not a bad price. I don’t think it will last longer.

Yeah, I remember this confused a lot of people (me included) upon the camera's release, and was discussed here at length. It oughtta be in the FAQ too.

You see, you can't actually buy the same battery that comes with the AF100. You have to buy one that has slightly different specs, is a slightly different size and shape, and has a different model number.

Stupid, I know. Don't know what Panasonic was thinking.

The VB-VWG6 that Mike mentioned is the one you want.

The Af-100 takes the same batteries as the HMC40 and HMC80. I purchased a high capacity Chinese knockoff battery from Adorama for $60 about 6 mos ago. Works great, price was right. I think BH has their Pearstone or impact brands on the market now as well.
