Need Advise...

I've been shooting with an older Sony MiniDV camera for the past few years, and I'm ready for an upgrade. I've been using the firewire to capture the video, and use anything from Adobe Premier to Windows Movie Maker. But with all this new technology out there, I just cannot decide which is the best for me. HDV or AVCHD? Can you guys give me some advise?

Requirements:
1.) Must be able to edit with iMovie08 or 06 HD (MBP 2.4Ghz 2GBRAM)
2.) Must be able to fit a decent wide angle lens (no distortion)
3.) Final presentation to be in DVD format or mov. files
4.) Budget is under $1000 (w/o wide angle lens)
5.) Must have some manual capability (focus, etc)

I've heard of problems with capturing AVCHD video...editing..etc.
With AVI's, I've never really had a problem, and tape swaps never bothered me.

Anybody have any suggestions?

HV20 or HV30. HDV is still ahead of AVCHD in quality. Plus, because of the file size of hd footage, tape is an easy, cheap way to store footage.

I second Yommytacoe's opinion. I doubt your computer could edit AVCHD as smoothly as HDV, and the HV20 and HV30 camcorders are simply unbeatable for the price.
