Need advice with shooting in 16:9

Hi,

I have been shooting in 4:3 for some time as an independent contractor. I have been asked to shoot few things in 16:9.

I have a DVX100A and I was wondering if an anamorphic lens such as Panasonic AG-LA7200 is the only way to be able to shoot in 16:9? Are there any other adapters in the market?

Is it possible to shoot in native 4:3 and do something in post to make it look like 16:9.

Shooting in 4:3 and cropping to 16:9 should be available in every pro level editor around. I used to do it all the time. And still do it on occasion when I drag out the DVX.
