asked kamerar, but they have 2 kind. the install the magnetic frame kind and a QV-1 quick release. I want a loupe that will bolt down to the tripod mnount and no quick release. thank you for any suggestions

You'll probably have to DIY something. I have the Kamerar and it's an excellent value. I absolutely don't want sticky magnets, the baseplate model has a Manfrotto-style plate that the loupe clips into. It's extra awesome if you use the Manfrotto PL stuff, and lets you reach all the buttons on your camera.

Yeah I also have the magnetic quick release one. I like it, the magnet does want to fight me to get back in sometimes, but once in the conncerction is strong and very nice.

The overall quality of the unit is great. It's big and feels solid.

I had trouble finding many other compatible loupes for the 7100.

I am happy with my purchase of the quick release kamerar though.

Mine's on a 7100 as well. The only issues I have with the kemerar is you have to sort of "teach" yourself to get it off - if you just grab and pull, the plastic's a little thin and it squeezes and the hinge pops up.

I've found the best way is to set the baseplate so it's inset a couple millimeters under the camera - that way the magnet doesn't go in all the way. That magnet's a beast so it still holds well. Sort of give it a side-to-side wiggle.

Putting it back on, yes - you need to get used to the alignment to pop it in.

Overall, the best loupe for the dollars right now (if you don't shoot video with a grip, which has always seemed a bad idea for video to me). The Swivi's a pain in the rear, blocks your buttons terribly and puts the camera 15mm off-center which is no fun with a matte box. And I don't want to glue stuff to my camera. Heck, in Texas that's a bad idea, the glue that held the eyepiece on my Cavision loupe melted on location and got everywhere...

Yeah, I've gotten used to removing the loupe, but it did take a little while!\

That magnet is really really strong. I like gripping the metal adjustment points on the sides of the magnet and using that as a point to pull it out or push it back in when installing.

Takes a bit of getting used to, and I was a put off a bit by how short the QR plate is in relation to the actual manfrotto plate, but it's been great in practice and it's a great product

I have the Cowboy and the new Hoodman. The Cowboy is very large and feels inexpensive but works well. The new Hoodman is built to take a beating and very well made but twice as expensive. The machining on the attachment rig is extremely well made.
