I wanted to order a few ND filters to use on canon 550D with canon 50mm f1.4 and 28mm f1.8. If i want to shoot video outdoors in daylight with iso100 and lenses apperture open, what grade ND filters would I require so I achieve approximately correct exposure, just wanted to get an idea of what collection of ND filters to have to use the lenses open in outdoors. Thanks

Buy TWO polarizing filters, each for $ 5 (with shipping) - and you get a variable ND filter (with price > $ 80)

You could estimate it by getting the correct exposure without the ND, maybe f/16 if it's a bright day, and then knock the light down from there to f/1.4, so around 7 stops of ND would be needed.

I bought two of the LightCraft Workshop filter ND's Bloom mentions in that article (the cheaper ones). Working great for me.
