Anders Holck Well-known member Oct 1, 2006 #2 The ND filter is an optical filter, and will not degrade quality.

smelni Veteran Oct 2, 2006 #6 the internal filter is calibrated for the camera. be careful with 3x3 filters - I have a .9 tiffen and when put in front of the camera sunlight takes on a pinkish hue

DavidBeier Veteran Oct 3, 2006 #7 I havn't noticed any drops in quality with the few ones I've tried but I do sometimes notice a losing some contrast.

smelni Veteran Oct 3, 2006 #8 to see the hue issue - point the camera at a wall with a slash of sunlight on it. Put the .9 tiffen in front of the lens - the slash of sunlight will turn pinkish - however using the internal ND will not do this. Its strange, annoying, and an issue.
