NBA Playoffs Thread

That hurt. Walton has butterfingers. I'm keeping my cool, we'll come back tomorrow and dominate, we just needed to adjust to the crowd and the sudden speed of the Jazz. I'm not worried.

props to Boozer, he hit ALL the big shots at the end while Kobe just couldn't make it happen. A great game though, I still feel confident the Lakes will pull it out.

THread got quiet all of a sudden.

Lakers will win the series, but it's a good win for the Jazz. They played with confidence; Okur has no fear.

Kobe going to the line 17 tims is kind of crazy.

Go (insert anyone playing Lakers)

I think the Lakers will get by Utah. But the scariest team are the Hornets. I'm about to start cheering for the Spurs so the Lakers won't have to play them! They make it look a little too easy.

Hopefully Kobe will heal up for game 5 Wednesday.

I'm getting nightmarish flashbacks to 1998. Malone/Stockton. Yuck.

Now it's a series.

Terrible officiating, though.

After every foul Vujacic waves his finger at the referees. Somebody should break it off.

I think the Jazz got away with a LOT in OT... however, Kobe couldn't deliver while injured... I'm worried, I'll admit...

But this is what it is all about to be a fan! You have to stick with the team through the tough times! We'll get through it!

Saying the JAZZ got away with anything is calling the kettle africa black when referencing a Laker game.

The key was overtime:

Utah strikes first with a long jumper by Okur, while the Lakers’ first three shots are a couple of tough attempts by Kobe and a missed dunk by Gasol.

Bryant goes right at Kirilenko and AK-47 gets called for a blocking foul as him and Kobe get tangled up. Bryant is brought to his knees in pain as he aggravated his back again.

Kobe gets blocked by Kirilenko and comes right back with a missed three off of the inbounds pass. He’s now 1-for-9 since the third quarter. Can’t Fisher get a shot?

OK, Kobe just makes a high degree of difficulty lefty layup to get L.A. back within two. I take it back.

The Lakers force the Jazz into a difficult shot from the corner with the shotclock about to expire, but Utah was able to corral the long rebound and get it to Kirilenko for an and-1 dunk. The Jazz are up five with 35.5 seconds remaining.

Kirilenko made it interesting by fouling Kobe on a three-point attempt, but Utah hit its free throws down the stretch to secure the win and tie up the series.

The Spurs are sooooooooooooo old! They're so old. Ancient. They're too slow. They can't recuperate as fast. Old old old! No way they can beat this young team.

And yet somehow they blow out this young stud team by 20 to even the series. I mean, I don't want to come off as gloating, but didn't I say this was going to happen when they were down 0-2?

Now comes that pivotal 5th game. Whoever wins this, wins the series.

I don't want to come off as a Hornets hater. I'm really not. I would actually love to see Kobe vs. Paul in a showdown of the MVP finalists - an award that probably went to the wrong person. I think the Hornets would beat the Lakers because Kobe would take the showdown personally and ditch the team concept - something he's been known to do a few times in the past (Kobe? Only thinking about Kobe?? Nahhhhh)

But I said it at the beginning and I'll say it again. I think the Spurs will win it all. And besides, the Lakers might not even make it to the next round.

I also really hate all these NBA experts and their deceptive stats. This whole thing about teams that go up 2-0 win 94% of the time. It's so deceptive. They lump into that statistic all the first round series that went on for 30 years that were best of 5. So the statistic for winning a series if you're up 2-0 in a 5 game series is something like 99%.

In addition, it lumps in all the terrible teams that go down 2-0. Most really bad teams go down 2-0. So of course they're going to lose the series.

What it doesn't really address is when a GOOD team goes 2-0, which is a whole different ballgame. But yeah, my point is, I hate when these sports shows try to decieve us with stats.

well, that's that. i gotta say, I thought san antan was going to do it. But I was wrooooooo-ong! This series is OV-ER! Nobody comes back to win game 7 on the road. I hope the Lakers win now so we can have chris paul vs. kobe. that will be fun.

I dunno man, I wouldn't count out Duncan and Co just yet. A cagey bunch that know how to get it done. Game 7 against the Spurs? Nobody wants to go there.

And Tyson Chandler got hobbled, he's doesn't score but does a lot of other things esp in regards to Duncan.

Go Jazz!! Last game was kind of a disappointment laker's played like **** and they where still close pretty much the entire time. They need too put Miles in more, he is one of there best players IMO. Anyways I think if we win this game tomorrow we will win this series. Thank god that if we do win we will playing the Hornets cause for some reason we choke against the Spurs and (Duncan dem donuts).

I'm so pulling for Jazz

The Jazz have no fear and the Lakers aren't as good as they think. Kobe doesn't like to play teamball and can't will a victory ala Jordan did.
