Nature shoot - DVX 100a

Looks crisp to me...

Was the shot at 2:12 with the star flares on the water just form your DVX or did you add that in post? I never saw a reaction like that without it being done in After Effects.

Very cool

Meh, I don't know. I'm guessing it's probably some in-camera settings. My footage just never seems to be very clean or detailed. There always seems to be some sort of fuzziness or distortion in the image. Maybe the DVX book will cover it, but it's certainly not as clean as your footage for example.

And yes it was just from the DVX. All I did in post was color correction. The sun's reflection in the water was extremely bright, so I just messed with the ND filters and iris until it wasn't so overwhelming. It might have come out like that because of the branches and leaves that were in the way.

And thanks! I actually used your stuff as inspiration. It means a lot coming from you, man. Looking forward to seeing more stuff from you.

Awwww, thanks.

I went through a stage with my DVX after I got it where I thought something was wrong with the fotage. I thought everything had fuzzy jagged edges. It went away on it's own I think

That's what I'm seeing. I don't know, I guess it could also be that my focus is just a tiny bit off sometimes, but who knows. I look at some footage and it seems to have noise or something.

But maybe it is just me...

What are you editing in? I think I started to see all this ugliness when I was editing in Premiere. Then I switched to Vegas and it went away.

Have you tried hooking your DVX up to a TV with AV cables and playing it back? I would try it with a older TV, not a big wide screen one that will stretch the video out and make it look ugly. If it looks ugly on there then maybe it is just a camera setting. If it looks nice, then it is a software issue possibly.

I'm using FCP. I'll have to try it on my TV today and see. I mean it's not like it looks completely horrible either, it's just not as clean as I'd like.

I'll try it and let you know.
