is that Seattle? nice place you got.
that may be natural light, but you still placed your subject in such a way that it looks designed. that's still "lighting". good work.

I posted the CC'd grab accidentally. Here is the original and a time laps for the opening title:

Thanks for the compliment dvpixl.

John, I agree. It was so bright out that it was tough to get some detail in the clouds without blowing them out too much and still get a little detail on the shadow side. All the lighting is natual except I did use a 1k britec on the shadow side to add some detail to the actors face. The CC'd image above was my attempt to take the red hue of my actors face from the tungsten light. I wish I had a blue filter to put over the light to get correct color. I like the original image a lot except for the red hue so I threw a MB preset on and tweaked it a little to get what I wanted. I used the gradiant option with a color of dark brown to darken the clouds a little a reintroduce some of the contrast I lost by using the MB filter.

Do you know what it is in a lot of the MB filters that makes the blown out areas extra shiny?

The only other option I think I had was to use a silver reflector or white board to bounce light on the actors face, but there was no room. I was filming this scene from the living room and just barely framed out the glass doors. John can you think of any space saving ideas to put more light on his face in this situation?

Thanks for the comments

perhaps the white diffusion. can chill out on that if you can. yeah the thing with MB is that it tends to lean towards the diffused look more than anything. but I think that's really a way of making it look more hazy to achieve the hazy feel that film naturally has.

Get some fill on the talent !

Detail's should be visible even on the shadow side

IMO

What are you talking about? I can see everything. The cc'd one looks a little jacked but the original looks great.
