Nattress plug-in

I bought this Nattress set of plug-ins.
This is the set with the noise reduction.
Been trying it out but the controls are many and varied
and I cannot seem to find any good info on what
would be good settings for use with HVX footage.
Filter Set G 1 for Final Cut Pro (3 & 4 & 5) Contains... Transitions G Dissolve Filters G Alpha Expander G Aperture Uncorrect G Beauty G Cool Blur G Deflash G DVNR G Field G Levels G Monochrome G Nice G Octagon G Saturator G Super Levels G Tint Generators G Lines

Do you have a clip of noisey footage you can send me? I'm working on some de-noising at the moment, so it's a good time for me to play with it. My new GPU based (would have to run in Motion I think, not FCP) filter is doing some rather nice noise removal on some 720p30 from the JVC.

As soon as I return next week I will send a short clip.
Running in Motion would not be a problem.
I am about to experiment with After Effects.
Thanks

It's just raw GPU code at the moment, I've not made it into a plugin, but I can do if need be. I'm still refining it, to make it "tweakable". I should be able to do seperate chroma and luma NR with it too, and the GPU code runs real time on 720p30.

Hi Graeme,

I will be getting my HVX on tues, if you need footage, i would be happy to help out.

I also have a quad and a 7800 card if you need a beta tester.

Also, if its up your alley, Motion 2 does not have an add noise filter!!!! This is so necessary when adding 3D rendered footage to a comp, yet Motion cant do it. Is this something you might be able to write?

:dankk2: Graeme for your positive answer to my help request, as well, my PM.

There are great news. If you can develop a noise reducer to HVX noisy properties, I'd be there again, as well, many others. And in FCP environment -- as you know I'm@PC_side 'til the nattress plug-in's need & purchase. You may go to the stock market and... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

About noise samples there are a lot of posts around here.

To MXF files, I'm posting you these links:

thread's link

And please, post any/something about your results. I suspended my HVX purchase 'til to know if there is or not a HVX noise(less) solution -- 35mm film-out acceptable to the big screen.

We'll be waiting for your news and samples!

Can you use those MXF direct in FCP ok?

I've got the de-noise routine working quite sweet. It's real time on a decent GPU, but I need to turn it into a plugin, which I'm trying the new image units, but they're not working for me. I might just make a Motion plugin direct, but I've got to figure out one or two things first....

Graeme,

I am in contact with the author of DV matte Blast, the real time keyer for motion. If you want, PM me and I will give you his email address. I am sure he could help you figure out how to get your Motion plug in working.

Some... I did a test on some HVX200 footage and the noise went, but what it left behind was not pretty - basically, when you remove the noise, you can see the DVCProHD compression artifacts much more clearly.

I think what most of us are finding is noise in the lower part of the curve - the shadow areas. Maybe the plug-in could focus primarily on smoothing out noise there. So we could pull some smooth, clean blacks out of the image without having to fill the shadows with light and then try to press the blacks in post.

Just an idea - any noise reduction at all would be great. I used your DVNR plugin a while back and it worked fairly well for DV...will your new one be similar?

Thanks - Gil
