T2i "Native ISO" and other rumors

Ok.. this maybe a stupid question. Forgive me if it is. I'm mainly an editor, and do freelance photography. I'm now getting more into shooting vid... because I can. lol

How are you acheiving ISO levels that are NOT 100 200 400 600 800 1600 etc? I don't get any other choices in my t2i.

Be gentle. :D

As I understand it, the problem with the mutliples of 160 ISO - so called native ISO's is that you lose highlight range in exchange for the cleaner blacks because they are in effect overexposing 200 and electronically making everything darker. Does that make sense -did I get that right? So pick your poison - clean blacks or a shorter dynamic range. You could probably do the same thing in post but maybe its cleaner in camera.

Any evidence to the highlight loss? Never saw it but would like to see what the effect has on such things.

I don't ever go that low, anyway, but if I get an MKiii (I'm dying for some Full Frame shooting) I'd like to have the information handy. Not to say that this non-existent camera will behave like its predecessors.
