Naming P2 cards

They seem to be stuck as No Name and you cant highlight em. Is it a bad idea to change the names? If not how do you do it.

thanks

yeah I should mention im using a mac. I have P2CMs. By the way Barry great book on the HVX its been helping me alot lately

Get someone with a PC laptop to name them for you if it gets tricky on the Mac
(Macs are so easy to use though, according to Apple , so it should be a breeze)

I like having my 4 cards named. It helps avoid potential major issues when downloading and erasing.

Use the P2 Format Station to name them on the Mac, I'm 90% sure that will work.

Recognize that if you format cards in the camera, it will erase the name on the card. So if you use the P2 Format Station you can keep the names and be rid of the "NO NAME" syndrome.

I had no problem naming all four of mine on my G4 Powerbook/OSX10.4.9 right on the desktop, just like a hard drive. Not sure why you can't.

Does your Mac have a PCMCIA slot (pre- MacBookPro) or are you using an MBP/Duel adapter or the like? Maybe that's the difference...

I'm on a Mac, named my P2 cards and now they won't mount!

I'm on a Mac, named my P2 cards and now they won't mount!

How comforting to know others wanted to name their cards too. I named mine using the formatter if that's the same as the format station, I don't know. Anyway, I ran into a problem after I shot some footage. The disks are no longer showing up on the desktop when I put them in the dual adaptor.

I'm relieved to know the cards still work after you've done this. HELP! Any idea of how to mount them would be greatly appreciated.

Nope...that won't survive a reformat in camera. Which is why it would be wise to use that Mac P2 eraser if you want to keep the name...and are working on a Mac.

Yeah, the name doesn't survive on Windows either. Would be nice if the name could survive an in-camera format, but it doesn't. Formatting on either Mac or Windows does preserve the name though.
