nacho libre

I liked Nacho. It wasn't non stop laughs, but it kept me laughing most of the time and I liked the story. I liked the scenery and thought they used colors well. I didn't dig some of the framing, though. Especially when they shot the characters with excessive head room. Waste of screen space. Other than that, I thought it was a good time. Loved the extended flight from off the top rope at then end of the last match.

"I use my hand to wipe my tears." :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

Funny movie. Hess has made another solid film. I'm anxiously awaiting his next project.

I didn't like it much on the whole although Jack Black's pronunciation is pretty damn funny and so is his sidekick in the movie Hector Jiminez.

I think what was really bugging me is that as I'm watching the movie i could pick out every quote that I'm going to be sick to death of hearing in a few weeks.

Just like Napoleon Dynamite.

Just saw this last night.

It was ok, and entertaining, but not something I'd call a "good" movie by far. Wasn't really worth the $9 to get in in my oppinon.

There was definatly many hillarious moments in the film..
[SPOILERS]
The xoxoxooxXXxx was about the best line.
The jump from the toprope was also funny.
"[Using hand to wipe tears]" was funny too, but very predictable.

I coudl tell there was a lot of humor in there that didn't quite 'do it' for me too. THe best made me laugh, but much left me waiting to see if the next was better.

A good use of an evening, thoguh probabaly better value on DVD than in the theater.

This movie is odd. Lots of fart jokes. But I have to admit, it won me over. I laughed a lot. The first 10 minutes were really bad, but once I realized what Hess was going for, it got pretty funny.

I like Hess' style. Really funny probably funnier the second time

NNNNNNNNNAAAAAAAACCCCCCHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I enjoyed the expression Black had when ever he said Lucha Libre.

That, and the {SPOILERRRRRRRRRR}

Whole burrowing fat lady part when the party plan turns into a snafu. When Esquelito is getting pulled back into the whole by the fat lady, god I was flippin out.

End spoiler.

All in all though, it was allright. I really wanna see the longer version someone was talking about here earlier. You can tell tehre's a lot of cut out of it.

I was thinking about that post after seeing the film, and honestly, even though I loved the movie I don't think I could have taken even one more minute of it. Nacho stops running at just the perfect time. Dynamite ended the same way. It was like "This movie is great, but it's getting a little long--oh credits, perfect!"

I think that speaks volumes to Hess's ability to construct a film.

so yall liked this movie??? i assumed nobody would see if because the trailer wasnt funny at all. Is it just the trailer that sucks or do yall like that kind of humor?

jack black has gone all down hill since airborne and saving silverman

If you like the style of humor of Napoleon Dynamite, then you'll like Nacho Libre. It's essentially the same style of film.

Jack Black is great in the role, and there are several moments in the film where he really shines as an actor, not just as a funny man. The amount of heart in Nacho surprised me, but it was a pleasant surprise.

I will NEVER forget the corn throw, nor his battle cry upon that magnificent death pitch of the cob! :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

I just saw this film last night, and I must admit it had me in stitches. I had been sort of curious, but also afraid it would be just another ND--which I couldn't stomach any more than 10 minutes of. But my 13-year-old son wanted a night out with his dad as my combined Father's Day/Birthday gift and he gave me the choices of NL or Garfield. I would have much rather seen Superman, X-Men, or Over the Hedge, but I let him choose. Having already stomached and gagged through the first Garfield because he wanted to see it, I chose NL as the least of two evils. And again, it had me in stitches!

It's definitely wraught with the type of humour that's basically so stupid it's funny. But this movie does it so much better than ND IMHO. The feigned and exaggerated Mexican accents, the stoned stupid facial expressions, the stupid one-liners, Jack Black's prancy movements, the sidekick's purposefully exaggerated smiling after getting his teeth whitened. Again, stupid-funny.

It was an OK film. There were some golden moments where I was laughing pretty hard. Still, it felt like Jack Black was turning it up a notch sometimes in order to make not-funny-enough moments better.
