NAB 2023 Rumors & Wishes

So, supposedly new Sony's are on a horizon. Some sports/action such as a new A9 (MKIII?), some APS-C with a 26 MPX sensor, maybe there's going to be a high resolution photo geared model, but who knows.
 
I will pop this into here because it's random...recently got these Sennheiser headphones and I LOVE them.

The audio PROs-pros might beg to differ but - to me - the sound quality is amazing and more importantly the ear cups are absolutely huge so your ears will sink right inside of them (no ear pain after 3-4-5+ hours).

My MDR-7506s finally gave out after like 12 years, lol.

Those things, man...they deserve all of the praise they ever had over the decades.
 
Thanks for the tip. I am on my 2nd pair of MDR-7506's and 2nd set of ear pads as well! If these go I will consider your suggestion as the larger ear opening would be my only quibble with the 7506's.
 
I had ear pads on mine too and that's worth mentioning not only because of the infamous shedding but because they make those Sonys more comfortable.

But it's night-and-day with these news Senns as far as comfort.

The best analogy I have is it's like if one enjoys using a viewfinder when operating a camera...the ear gets nicely covered and immersed in sound.

So, to revive an old unpopular discussion. The Office, in an episode called the "Pool Party" was first broadcast January 2012. In it, Jim actually uses a smartphone.camera.

And here's a side story for the Office fans. In 1983, there was a quality - albeit somewhat unpopular and soon cancelled - family drama called a Family Tree with Ann Archer and Frank Converse. Their - or just hers - teenage kids were played by the young James Spader and Melora Hardin or, for the Office fans, Robert California and Jan Levinson-Gould. That was 23 or so years earlier for her and 28 for him. They didn't cross paths on a sitcom.

And simultaneously I was watching a super crappy but very good looking "John Wick" with Keanu Reeves playing a Russian hit-man. Dean "Mr. Mayham" Winters has a smaller part. The film is crap but did solid business and spawned three sequels.

I think Melora was initially gone after Jan Levinson had her baby (and even told Michael to stay away from Holly).. That was in 2008. She came back at the end of 2012 as a manager of the Scranton White Pages, who refused to buy from the new Dindeer iMfflin. I think James Spader (Robert California) was gone by then.

BTW, I once stood next to James Spade at the old Fred Segal's clothing store. in West Hollywood. It was a very pricey place. I was just looking.

In a "Family Advance Photo Studio" episode (Aired may 10h, 2012, written and directed by BJ Novak) is where Dwight sets up a free photo studio in a lunch room. From the looks of it, the show producers connected a Cannon DSLR 5D MKII (which was a 21 MPX professional photo camera that came our in 2008. Its sequel 5D MKIII came out in March 2012, probably a bit too late to be included in production. MKII was more than sufficient for the episode. The camera was tethered to what looked like a 15" laptop.
 
Two new cameras - Insta360 #3, 48 MPX video, 72 mpx stills, under $500 price. Everywhere online.

And Phase One medium format 150 MPX. No prices given, but has a color and a B&W sensor models.
 
OK, prices are given for the Phase One. It's $62,000, a bit more than Samsung Galaxy Ultra.

Blackmagic Design 6K L-mount will probably going to be the same price as the old 6K non-L mount.

I know medium format cameras are pricey, but... That's in Alexa 35 territory.

Samsung Galaxy 23 Ultra is ~ $1,200-$1,500 (depending on a memory size) and it has a higher resolution sensor of 200 MPX. And it a Quadruple Bayer Binner. If that's too much memory. But is is actually a higher full res sensor than Phase One.
 
It needs to also be mentioned that these days are all sorts of digital resolution enhancements, from free online services to quite pricey software from Adobe to Topaz and others.
 
Was watching the first year (on Lifestyle) of Castle (2009-2016). They had an episode where kids of wealthy parents got into some sort of troubles and videoed themselves on their smartphones. Spring 2009 So, it could have been done in 2009, obviously. Message to the Office production.

I strongly disagree. That link just shows a bunch of social media stuff with "cool" people under 40 prancing around doing nothing of importance. Yes, that is one way to make money in video. Maybe a lot of money for a few people at the top. But there are still plenty of corporate clients and other organizations, news, documentaries, sports, etc. that will always have a need for serious video production that actually accomplishes important stuff that can't be measured by views or likes. I kinda wish I was at the beginning of my career instead of the end because there are so many more opportunities out there today. I see them everywhere. But it takes more than just turning on the camera and chasing a around a pretty girl or a hipster in his cool hat wtih a camera on gimbal and set for AE and AF. That's not video production.

Some things never change and you still have to have some salesmanship and business acumen to make it work. And you can't sit around waiting for the phone to ring (or the text to chime) or you'll soon be selling sunglasses at the mall

There is nothing to argue about here though, it's all good either way, happy for all. :love4:
 
Personal commentary - would like to say more but spent six days at a hospital .... because I am not doing too well .... very sick, melanoma and some other sh!f .... would like to stay in touch with the gang .... but don't know for how long I'll be able too .... a sad state of affairs ...
