I've read that from another Fuji executive team member source, but I can't recall where, it was a link from the Fujifilm FB group. It was interesting too, in that interview, that executive alludes that they are finished developing more new MKX lenses where in this one, this exec seems to hint that there will be more to come?
This comes down to what, 8.9 vs. 6.6 MPX?

Sony gave us a pretty damn good s35 Global Shutter CMOS sensor 6-7 years ago in the F55. It should be SOP by now for everyone. Especially Sony.

As long as there is a latitude penalty for global shutter on sub 14 stops dr cameras, i will sometimes gravitate towards more latitude. Over 14stops latitude? Well, then Bob Mole is your uncle.

I always insist on a global shutter camera when filming statues from a static tripod.

If I never shot anything but stationary or slow moving objects and the lighting was 100% controlled, sure. But I shoot a lot of sports and am around a lot of flash photography, too. Still strobes and other flashing lights are hell on most sensors with rolling shutters. It's getting better with faster read-outs and some cameras have in-built software to help, but all things being equal, I'd rather have the global shutter. Actually skew is pretty well controlled on most higher end cameras, now. It's still mostly the flash-banding that is so objectionable to me.
I agree, and I'm a bit jealous of your F55. There are lots of shots where you can't get a do-over and I frequently wish I had a camera with GS.

Can anyone remind me - do most companies do sales during NAB time? It seems like every year I manage to buy a bunch of gear like the week or two before NAB and then immediately regret my impatience.... (which of course means i'm itching to buy a bunch of stuff, but know I should at least hold off til NAB)

Their are no sales on the actual floor, and mostly the gear is being announced and not ready to ship (at least pro cinema cameras). I think a large part of it nowadays is that companies use NAB to ballpark the feature-set and target price, i.e. they can see if a competitor completely undercuts them or revolutionize the market. Thus, by waiting they keep some leeway to change the price or add new features (mostly software/firmware). I mean, I don't think they go back to the drawing board and re-design their stuff, but more a sort of "can we ask them to pay for upgrade if they want prores, or 4K 60 fps RAW, etc? Or should we include it for free ?". I would like to hear from someone like Mitch what the general approach is from the various companies he worked for, if it is all finalized month before what the price and specs are or if they look for some sort of input.
