NAB 2013 predictions?

For sure, a DSLR made to shoot video with features for that purpose on board would be great. There have been improvements like the GH3/D5200/MK3, but I'd love to see what Canon could come up with in an entry level C designated DSLR.

Looks like Canon has something for those with less funds:

It's about bloody time!

I reckon it's a sub $5000 (hopefully $3000) C50 probably without the NDs and XLRs and maybe a 3.2" LCD that doesn't swivel and no handle. As long as it has the same sensor, c-log, and HDMI out I'm in. All I ever wanted was a nice sensor in a box.

Or the 5D firmware update could include 2k or S35 modes with c-log.

Or it's a 7DC.

You know after looking at Twitter I think it's a new C-DSLR probably with 60P as well. That would make the most sense as it's affordable to everyone.

Hmmm...I don't know why someone would Tweet about a rebate being exciting and that they couldn't say anything about it.

Where is there a tweet about a rebate? They didn't specify a rebate. They just said it would be good news for cash-strapped indie film makers to get into digital cinema. It could be a rebate, a finance deal, or it could be a new, cheaper camera.

Canon can't possibly compete with "real" indie filmmakers with the strategy of cutting the features of the C100....the camera with my old Hi8 viewfinder ....when you can buy 5 gh3's for the same price ! The only reason people keep hanging on faith is for their lenses....and metabones is about to put that ogre to sleep once and for all ! I'd love to be proved wrong....but 4 years of them doing basically nothing to their video capable dslr's doesn't give me much faith. They are far too interested in the bottom line, and that bottom line is all about still photography....not video. We'll see if it's hype in a few days. But I'd still love to see a equally competent Canon gh3 competitor....in my dreams.

I'm thinking Canon may do the unthinkable; Sell the C100 for the price it should have been sold for from day one ($4999 body only, $5700 kit). Or maybe I'm just dreaming! They CAN afford to do this........

I was responding to Babu's post which was since changed....Babu mentioned that maybe Canon's announcement was possibly the $1000 rebate which hasn't hit the U.S. yet. I just figured nobody would be that excited or tweet about or not be able to disclose a rebate (which is how this thread got started..from tweets)...at least I wouldn't, lol.

I'm thinking an update for the Sony EX3 is overdue.

4:2:2 of the PWM200 in an updated EX3 body. Same lens, same chip, but add HDMI.

Though I'd really love it if it had a form factor closer to the JVC HM700, but highly doubt it. Probably still a semi-shoulder cam, instead of a real shoulder cam. (Can't cut into PMW320 sales, right?)

Yeah, I posted about a sale going on up here in Canada. $6499 for a C100 body + Atomos Ninja 2, or $5499 for just the C100. I believe Canon is also starting a new package deal of the C100 and the 24mm-105mm L for $6499.

But I hope it is more than that, I hope they do release either another C class DSLR, one with 1080p60, or even better, a Cx00 that has 1080p60, and is less than the C300.

I can only speak for myself but I am excited as a film maker to be going to NAB with all the exciting video/cinema products that are squarely aimed at the independent film maker. Its a great time to be making movies. Particularly competitive 4k cameras. I love my AF100 and will be shooting on it for years to come but I can't pretend that I wouldn't love to shoot some cool 4k stuff if I got the chance.

Ah, my bad. Apologies. But a $1,000 rebate would be welcome!

If it offers 50mbps, 4:2:2. why would anyone buy a PMW320? If anything, a true shoulder-mount EX3 replacement should make the 320 disappear. Why not have a new shoulder-mount design replace both?

And I've shot with an EX3 enough to not consider it a shoulder-mount. More like shoulder-supported. The HM700 really is a great shoulder-mount design. Light, well-balanced.

After reading twitter and through the conversations I was corrected in thinking it was only a rebate which is coming for the body and also the kit lens. For the last 4 cinema cams Canon has made a invite for a presentation announcement and this time it looks like they won't be which is why I was thinking it can't be a camera. I was wrong it seems.

So you're saying you have info that there will be a new camera?

Yes from a solid source that a camera is coming. Still no answer for what type. I'm thinking a c-dslr entry

If it is around $6000 - $8000, and is 8bit and lacks 1080P @ 60FPS, in 2013, the only way it will survive by any means is by support of Canon fanboys. I hope Canon makes me eat my words. I hope that it's 10bit with 60FPS @ 1080P. Highly doubt it though.
