not too bad

Liked the camera movements and editing. You had enough locations that you do a variety of shots. The intro sucked....really. I would take that out and work on some color correcting.....the colors I saw in that now made it look amateurish, even though I can tell you know what you are doing. Good job overal....and it was good that the band was nice and active.....I hate watching music videos where the talent doesn't perform well on camera.

I used vegas to edit, and the footage was mostly all color corrected already...guess you didnt like that part of it :(. What exactly about the color correction looks amatuerish? And I guess I'm suprised everyone thinks the intro sucks, the band really liked the intro...is there anything you think I can do to fix it?

Anyways, thanks for all the feedback...please everyone keep lookin at this and lettin me know what you think. I want to learn and improve for next time for sure

I think this video is really good: simple, pro and good looking!
Yeaa, I understand the intro but somehow is not at the same level of the whole footage concept and aesthetic... Anyway it does not suck!
No much to be said: this is good, fast, well shot and very well edited!!!

Lose the intro (like you need to hear that again)...

Loved the library shot...

The color seemed "off" to me also... but I'm no expert at CC'ing (still learning myself) -- the one thing that did bug me were the reds... just seemed too saturated.

Liked the band a lot! Catchy song!

You did a good job!

i dunno, i would also say lose the intro, but i guess i could also like it. I liked the recording alot, great quality. The editing was supreme! But yeah the sinking could be a little better for some of the shots and loose the purple faces. near the end, all of them, not too flattering. :) Amazing vid

i agree with the others...ditch the intro.

why?

it just really takes away from the music video- the band members aren't actors and it shows. Once the music starts, it gets a lot better. Good improvement over your last video. I liked a lot of your movement, did you use a crane/dolly?

What is it I don't like about the color?

First of all, I don't think the lime green look is appropriate. It just seems unatural. My rule of thumb for color correcting is to reflect the mood and enviorment of the shot. Something that color might be appropriate in a club scene, but looks out of place in just some random living room.

DV hates the color red, so when you over-saturate that color in the red sweater, it bleeds all over the place.

Color Correcting is just a minor thing that can add something alittle extra to your video, but you had a good feel of camera movement, framing, and edting, so you understand the most important things.

Kill the Intro I concur

What a killer song and the band has a nice 'stage presence'; these kids have a bright future

I have really been enjoying watching your work and this is no exception. I love that you move your camera; dolly, truck, pushes.....

The library dolly shot is beautiful (expeically when you move to a close up on the keys. What a nice jux); the crane shots are well used; the comp of the aprtment courtyard is perfect; the changing locations are wonderful on my eyes;

Im not sure how I feel about the group shot with the separate frames; Id lose that one; I also thought the band running off was kind of gay (not that theres anything wrong with that)

Bravo anyways ! Well done!

Dude; there is no way this a DVX100. I need photographic evidence. Somethign is off damn it

ok I looked again....some of it is DVX but Im betting that theres also some HD thrown in there....the concert...and when the guitarist is rocking out on his own in front of that light...and you have a crane? what kind of second music video is this??? did you rob a bank?

Hey everyone, thanks for all the responses and suggestions. I might cut a version with no intro and a few other changes and see how that looks. The band wanted to make it somewhat wacky thus the intro, and the ending, they and alot of their fans think its funny, but I can see how some people might think its unnecissary.

And Adam, this is all DVX, shot with only 1 cam. I have a fairly inexpensive Dolly and Crane which I use and a ghetto home depot light setup. I'm still only in highschool so I dont have the budget for a HD cam unfourtunately, so have to try and do the best I can with the DVX. And no robbing banks, just working alot of hours at the movie theater haha. The concert was really cool though because I got to direct ~50-70 people which I think was a good experience.

As for the comment about the colors in the living room setup, I went for the yellowish look on purpose because I thought it spiced up the somewhat boring living room setup. On my screen and TVs it doesnt really look green but I should probably take it to a few different computers and Televisions to test that out. I was going for a yellowish look really.

Again, thanks for all the comments, any more comments/suggestions are welcome so please take a look at this if you havent already. I'm hoping to make as many improvements as I can with #3 (I think this is a step up from #1 so I want to continue that trend)

must be working like crazy hours at the theater to afford a DVX! Yellow is not really a flattering color for a bunch of white guys.

Is amazing what you are accomplishing while still only in high school. Looks like you have a bright future

ICK, just found out that I have to re- edit this and maybe (most likely) shoot more footage for it. As if I'm not buisy enough. Unfourtunately, one of the things that needs to be cut is the main location....I have to cut out all of the times the band is playing in the living room past the intro because I guess they didnt understand it was a flashback. I think this will take away from the video alot as well as make a lot of work for me because we lose the band dynamic of them playing together. SO I might end up shooting more story element scenes, any ideas would be appreciated.

And If anyone else hasnt taken a look at this yet, please let me know what you think.
