Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The AF100 DVD (DVD)
I got the Two DVDs the package was damaged and the DVD had scratches in them so I could not play the first DVD. Amazon stated I could not get a refund or a replacement product. I am Sick of Amazon and was cheated out of my money!

This was my review on Amazon today of Amazon.com and Barry's new DVD on the AF-100

This is totally inappropriate and un-cool to post this on DVXuser and attack Barry about the issue you had with Amazon. Have you even tried to contact Barry? I suggest you reconsider your approach.
My $0.02.

Did you buy new or used?

I understand your frustration, but, frankly, I have problems with reviews like yours. That is, you are not really reviewing the product, but the seller. I know its tricky with Amazon, where there isn't a good way to distinguish these, but I don't like to see good products get low ratings because of seller practices.

Not sure what the solution is, though, for someone in your situation.

I'm pretty sure you'll hear something from the Green Barry soon enough!

I don't think he's attacking Barry here... and I'm not sure that it should be Barry's responsibility to address this (I'm sure he will, but he's always above-and-beyond). I think the title of the post mighta been better here as something like "Amazon screwed me when I tried to Buy Barry Green's book!". And similar for the review on Amazon itself.

Bob, take it up with the shipper (UPS? FedEx?). No worky? Take it up with Amazon. No worky? Take it up with you CC company. No worky? Politely take it up with Barry... but damn is this post a gawd-awful way to go about it...

The content of the DVD set is great, and is an excellent companion to the book; they complement each other.

Kinda mis-leading the title of the topic. Barry has worked hard on his books and DVD's and they are of GREAT help to Panasonic users (even if you're an expert with cameras and functions). Your topic headline should read "Amazon sent me messed up DVD's". If I ever sell my Af100, I will make sure the buyer gets the holy bible for it. That being Barry's book.

The review was covering both Amazon.com and the fact that I have had no luck with the the company that produced the Vid it was not packaged for shipping.
Everyone is pointing the finger at the other guy. Everyone has benefited on this transaction except myself the guy that paid for it.
I have hit the end of my rope and have been going around for several weeks on this matter. Maybe it needs to be addressed by the guy at the top. I am not Slamming Barry but come on now this is the guy that slected this hartless giant to move his product. I am just a little guy here getting cheated and no one cares. Perhaps Barry should know how his customers are being treated by the steam roller big corp.

I did take it up with Amazon and the vid company everyone is just passing the buck for several weeks now.
I have hit the end of my rope. The guy at the top Barry needs to know how his customers are being treated. It has been gawd-awful how I have been treated by everyone that I have attempted to work with dealing with this.

I reiterate, have you tried the shipper, or your credit card company?

It's sixty dollars, yet you, the owner of at least thousands of dollars of video gear, are crying like it's the AF100 itself that came damaged in the mail, like Barry himself stomped on your DVDs with glee. Please act like a professional, or at least an adult. "hartless [sic] giant", "end of my rope", "steam roller big corp", seriously? What's next, 'goodbye cruel world'?

Yes, maybe Barry does need to know, through a PM or email, tactfully, not this soap-opera-worthy public outburst. Unbelievable.

wrong place to blame, -

1st thing to do if got a broken pac: 1st always check it at the post office or in front of the courier, if u see it broken - u file a report at the post office right away, they have to investigate and give u report , than u go from there...., most time the international deliveries are insured, so that the post office can pay to amazon and amazon can refund u. with post office report u can contact your bank and even visa it self, as well as the company who processed your payment

I think the only review the OP could make of the DVD is that it is devoid of useful content… we don't want that. Let him hold off in reviewing the disc until he can actually view it?

(my emphasis)

He does state it's a review of the DVD even though it's clearly not. Just a crappy shopping experience with Amazon. I've NEVER had an experience like this with Amazon, had a guitar come busted, replaced no problem. I wonder, Hotwood, if you cam at Amazon right of the bat with the same attitude you're displaying here. If so - no wonder.

And of course, as evidenced by the many replies here - your claims represent Barry's usual business practices in no way whatsover, and he / the DVD content have ZIP to do with your Amazon review.

I wonder also if you tried contacting Barry with a courteous email asking if he could do anything about your Amazon experience or could help you directly.

I do think it would help the OP to be a little more reserved, but I just checked and see that indeed the discs are sold through the Amazon marketplace by Fiercely Independent Films (Barry's company), with fulfillment by Amazon. That's a complicated business arrangement, and I'm not sure how fulfillment by Amazon works, but indeed I'd say this involves Barry's company more directly than a purchase of an item sold by Amazon.

At very least, I do think it's important to bring this to his attention. But like I said, something less confrontational than what we've seen would be better. However, if it's true that the OP indeed has been trying to get a response fro
Amazon AND Barry's company ("the vid company") for a month, then I can see the frustration. OP, were your earlier attempts less extreme?

Okay, here's how Fulfillment By Amazon works:

I send the product to Amazon's warehouse. They handle all transactions (including returns). I and my company are not involved in any way in the transaction. Amazon does the billing, they do the shipping, they handle the customer complaints, they handle refunds, they handle replacements. They do it all. It's handled completely transparently as far as the seller is concerned. Amazon is the fulfillment house.

So, yes -- while Hotwood knows I'm here, he chose to slam my company with a 1.0 rating, without even bothering to at least ask me about it. Which, I think, is really not fair. This thread here is the first I've heard of there being any issue at all.

Yes, I think that's the major take-away… Hotwood would have had a much better experience if he courteously approached you, and possibly more courteously approached Amazon. That he claims he contacted "the vid company", but didn't, is telling.

I've had only excellent experiences with Amazon (and with the Green Barry)… Hotwood, mellowing out a bit and giving people the benefit of the doubt will do you some good. I hope this gets resolved for you soon, so you can revise your review once you gain the benefits of your purchase!

+1. ANd thanks to Barry for taking the time to even make a book or a DVD. Any books coming along for the HXP250 and the AC160/130's Barry?

I find it strange that Amazon have not sorted things out. I have only had a few problems in the whole time since Amazon started and each time they have replaced lost or faulty goods without fail. I do think that Barry should have been given an opportunity to resolve the matter before publication of the "review". I have Barry's book and DVD, both are invaluable to getting the most out of the AF100/101etc.
