My REDCINE wishlist:

Completely platform independent. OS X, Windows and Linux. I work in a platform independent environment and want to be able to run REDCINE on whatever system is available at the moment.

Multi-processor aware, especially since both Intel and AMD are releasing mutli-core CPUs.

Work with render queue software like iRUSH for distributed processing. As much as people talk about wanting real time capabilities, I want to process faster than real time. This means using a render farm for all the processing. There are fast cheap machines out there that can be used for just processing.

Command line capable. There's no reason to have the overhead of a GUI, if you can run commands in a terminal. OS X and Linux can both do things faster in command line. This will work great with the queue software.

GPU accelerated functionality for all the color correction work.

I third the idea of a command line interface option.

Luckily it sounds like Graeme is behind REDCINE and he is brilliant guy. I think we will be very happy with it.

Multi-platform has already been mentioned which is great but im also thrilled that the team is comprised of mac guys, it just gives me warm fuzzies!

Cross platform, yes. Multi-processor yes. Command line is in the plan. GPU is in the plan. Your post looks like you've been reading my secret plans - good work. We're on the same wavelength.

Oh I forgot to add:

Ability to input a 1d or 3d lut (lookup table) when converting to DPX etc.

I'm assuming all processing is being done in float.

Uh, Graeme; how exactly IS RedCine going to compare to dedicated color processing setups? Almost seems like it's going to be a grading package in and of itself.

Very good suggestion. 1d is good, 3d would be fantastic.

Seems like it will be fairly limited in that regard. You'll probably get similar features to what you get in photoshop RAW. Im not sure RED wants to get into the DI business just yet. A full fledged DI suite such as SCRATCH would be far more robust even if RedCine did offer more than basic color tools.
