My new rig.

it is amazing that 32 years later , that i get the -AF100, come out and play - reference from such a crappy movie. i bet the writers didn,t think that would have been line would stick ,rattling around in everyone head for decades, well maybe it was the way the line was delivered. famous because it was so bad? maybe.

Great question, I mainly see the AF100 as a replacement to my 7D, not a replacement for the HDX900. If you are a 2/3" camera owner, you know that you can get excellent DOF with that size sensor as well as simplified audio recording. I guess being Old School, I like the Betacam/Aaton layout, it feels familiar. I am not a huge fan of DSLRs. I think this camera will help with my mid ranged clients, but I will travel with this as a B camera whenever my HDX900 goes out. I have a few Canon DSLR lenses to play with(come on Birger mount).

As far as sensitivity, I haven't check yet, but that will be a great test. I hope to do a full compliment this week. Ice and snow are almost gone.

Is the camera powering that lens' servo or is it coming from the battery? Is the camera able to communicate with the lens?

At this point the zoom servo is not powered. I read a while ago AbelCine may be working on a solution to this. I am using the lens manually at this point, which is how I work about 75% of the time.
And no, the camera does not communicate with lens or visa-versa.

Hey James, thanks for sharing your rig, very interesting.

Do you have a link to an online reel of yours? I'd like to see your work.
