My two month old 550D is dead. Nothing happens when I turn the power on. I have recharged the battery a couple of times. Still no sign of life. I only have one battery so I haven´t tried any other yet. It hasn´t been exposed to any type of "bad" weather either.

When googling to find others with the same problem - I don´t. But I do find alot of people having the same type of problem with their old G7´s and G9´s. Due to poor assembly or something. Screws inside randomly falling of.

Have someone of you other 550D/T2i -users experienced anything like this, and if so; what was the faulty part? Battery or Body?

Another great shi*ty thing for me is that I bought the camera in the middle east, so I´ll be having great problems using my warranty here in Europe. Now I learned the hard way not to buy camera bodys while on vacation. Yes!

my t2i purrs like a kitty. u just made a mistake of buying ur camera in the wrong place.
good luck to u

Thousands of stills and hours of HD 1080 and 720 50p in the sun and rain and the camera never complained. I'd just call canon near you and get it checked out. Maybe something simple.

To the original poster, contact canon directly and get hold of a repair center, i am sure u can get it repaired fairly cheaply.

The last time i was living in london i had repairs done to a usa bought ntsc canon camcorder at a uk canon repairs center

was fairly painless and didn't cost me an arm or a leg

Same problem. It's the SD card that's a problem. I have been toying with it the pass few days. I was at a coverage and it went dead on me. It would go back on and die again, to the point it didn't wanna go on. Experimented on it and found out its the SD card. I been using a 32 gig TDK sd card for a year now and it works fine. Now its kinda dead, that it won't work with the 550d, but will work with the computer. Weird, but that's the problem with mine. I hope it's the same with you.

Tip do not use your cards for other files. Just your cam. I think that's what happened, even if I formatted it so many times.

Hope the guys camera still isn't dead since April 28th 2010.

I use my cards lately for all kinds of data from my PC to my laptop since they are the only cards 8 gB and above in the house.
I have noticed a few strange things.
When I reformat in the camera which I do every time I put it in the camera, the files from the PC are not read by the cameras processor and the camera format does not effect the PC files, it just lowers the available data space. So I delete the files from the computer then reformat before removing the card. Then reformat in the camera to be sure the card is clean.
