I have been searching for a good solid handheld stablizer that does not cost me arms and legs. Today, I think I found one that is very usable.
My rig includes the GH1 fitted with Panasonic AG7200 16:9 converter via Redrock Micro's 72mm ring (so I can align the lens correctly). The camera sits on a Arca Swiss type quick release which is then attached 30" off to the Stitz DL-1 flash grip.
The 30" alignment makes the difference. Because the Stitz is for left hand and I use it for my right hand, turning the camera 30" allows me to clear access to all buttons. The "extruded" base, by accident, let me expand my support for the camera and easily control the lens. I can also add left hand support (up or down) easily.

The Stitz DL-1 costs only $10 from a used camera store and is very solid.
