My GH2 Journey

Hello everyone just started shooting with the gh2.
Thanks for all the knowledge I gathered here and there on this board.

I chose a controlled light setup for my first tests, can't wait to have fun with sunlight and locations.

I wrote a complete rundown on vimeo if you are interested so feel free to step by.

I think the hd version is only on vimeo for some reason?

thanks for watching and looking forward to hearing your thoughts

Great job on the lighting. Only thing, and this is probably personal preference, but I would have liked just a smidge more key light for the medium shot. But it looks great. Did you shoot this 30p (HBR)?

Awesome, I love the look. I agree with a little more key or front light for the medium shot, it looks a little under-lit. I love the detail in the close up!!! The medium shot looked a little soft by comparison, almost like the focus was just a little soft, or maybe the lighting, not sure.

Keep posting your stuff, it looks great.

You are both probably right and it must be a tad too dark.

I did actually shoot with a lot more light but crushed the shadows in post.
With my post-production background I am the first to enjoy detail in the shadow and hdr images, but I think sometimes to achieve to look you want you must not be scared to crush the blacks.
I probably over did it this time though.

I shot this 24p cinema.

Regarding the softness a lot of it is due to vimeos compression. But I did notice that some of my lenses are softer than the others.

here is the second part of my saturday afternoon test, complete rundown available on vimeo:

for some reason vimeo compressed the video more poorly this time and I lost a lot of sharpness compared to the boxer one.
