this file is somewhat desaturated compared to what I see in FCP. What would be a better way to export for this purpose out of FCP?

The boats were color corrected. The sailboat heavily color corrected. The beachshots uncorrected.

I did forget to turn off the OIS...

It too me so long to muddle through this I did not have the time to set to the music.

Any advice on set up?

nice shots jay. it is a sweet camera isn't it? qt seems to enjoy desaturating the footage you just spent hours or days or weeks saturating, so you might want to give it a bump before you export.

Beautiful stuff, man.

Excuse my ignorance. [I haven't bought the camera (yet) but am getting closer to taking the leap] What is the "Panalook"? Is it a setting on the camera?

Pnalook is a preset developed by Steven Dempsey (aka Disjecta) when using the Canon XL-H1. It very closely approximates the DVX look he used to get. I think it has been modified to work with the A1. Should look great!

I used the Dijecta's Panalook directly from the H1 Library. I know because of the difference of the scales used in the adjustments, of the two cameras, there will need to be some modifications to the preset in order to replicate what Disjecta has done. I was hoping one of the senior members would be able to elaborate on this.

Here is a very short clip exported as HDV1080P perhaps better color representation?

after downloading I removed the .txt, right clicked and to Quicktime to open it. There must be a better way for me to upload this type of file?

For the life of me I can't figure out how to just do a frame grab out of final cut pro to show a still image?

Creating Freeze Frame Stills From a Video Clip
Final Cut Pro makes it easy to grab a freeze frame whenever you need to, whether you are viewing a clip in the Viewer or working on a sequence in the Timeline. No
additional media is created on your hard disk; freeze frames are simply clips that
reference a single frame of a media file.
To create a freeze frame from a video clip:
1 Make sure the frame you want for a freeze frame is displayed in the Viewer or the
Canvas.
2 Do one of the following:
Choose Modify > Make Freeze Frame.
 Press Shift-N.
A freeze frame clip appears in the Viewer. This clip is automatically named after the
sequence or clip that it came from, plus the timecode from which the frame originated.
Note: If you open another clip in the Viewer, the freeze frame clip that was previously
in the Viewer is gone.
3 To add the freeze frame to your sequence, do one of the following:
Drag the freeze frame from the Viewer to the Canvas or the Timeline.
Drag the frame to the Browser to create a master clip for use throughout the course of your project.
As with imported stills, the duration of the freeze frame image is determined by the
Still/Freeze Duration preference. Note: Freeze frame clips refer to media files the same way other clips do. If the media file is modified, moved, or deleted, the still image clip becomes offline, and you need to reconnect it.
If you want to export a frame as a still image:
1 Position the playhead on the frame you want to export, then choose File > Export >
Using QuickTime Conversion.
2 In the Save dialog that appears, enter a name and choose a location for the image.
3 Choose Still Image from the Format pop-up menu, then click Save.

So this is Disjecta's "Panalook" preset? It can be done more closely I hope.
